“yeah, they’re just having a bit of playtime before going to bed”
ella leans over the sink to wipe down the residue that has leaked over while she was clearing the dishes. his voice crackles slightly over the video call, something he blames on the poor reception of the theatre. she smiles, all too familiar with the struggle.
“how’s miles? has he been fussy?”
entering the terrible twos, miles had only just begun to learn about his vocal chords and, thus, decided to scream every time something happened. this was both a good and bad thing, he was speaking more and more, but it also meant he was throwing tantrums a lot as well.
“surprisingly, no, but you know him. always on his best behaviour when uncle nini is around”
she catches the look just as harry spills into a laugh. they could never explain it, the affinity that miles had for his godfather. the way that the two just click and ella thinks that it must be something in their genes; that her son loves him as much as she does. she finishes up cleaning the sink and bids her husband goodnight.
“time to let uncle nini go home”
she calls through the house, picking up wayward toys as she makes her way to her sons room. the lack of avengers figurines outside his door catches her attention--whenever harry wasn’t home, miles had a tendency of making his own protection squad. he would explain that the avengers would protect them if anything were to happen.
“okay, say goodnight to uncle--oh.”
nestled on the beanbag in the centre of the room, lay her brother and her son cradled on his chest. she was torn with waking them up to seperate them (miles was only just learning to sleep on his own) but she couldn’t bring herself to do it just yet. so she decides to leave them be, at least for now.
“goodnight, you two. i’ll just come back later then”
