HTC Accessories Review - BoomBass and Mini Plus
Like many other manufacturers, HTC released some accessories alongside their devices to enhance the user experience with them. In HTC’s case, they aren’t really shouting about them as a must have, however they are well thought out accessories and not just released because they can.
HTC BoomBass as the name suggests is a speaker for your HTC One, or the HTC One Max, in this case, it was tested with the HTC One Max; the BoomBass has NFC for quick Bluetooth pairing which worked flawlessly and the best thing about the BoomBass is the stand included. The discrete docking stand slides out and it allows you to place your HTC smartphone on top so if you were watching a movie or just want a better place to place your phone, you have a place for it.
Like me, you may be asking why HTC needs extra sound improvements when HTC One or the One Max already have the two award winning frontal stereo speakers, in fact no other smart phones on the market comes close to the speakers already in place, but this becomes clearer when in action, it adds extra bass to the already good sound quality. The only downside is that it doesn’t charge your smartphone whilst docked and that would have made it little more functional.
HTC also introduced the Mini +; when shown to anyone or explained to anyone, guaranteed they will ask you “Why do you need a phone for your phone?”, the Mini + is an Apple TV remote sized device that serves as an extension for your HTC One Max.
Considering the size of the One Max, you might find that sometimes you don’t want to pick it up to change your TV program via the remote control feature or maybe you have kids and they tend to play games on your smartphone. The Mini + allows the user to still have access to the fundamental features of your phone whilst someone else is using the master device. You can even use it professionally as a pointer for controlling your PowerPoint presentations.
The Mini + allows you to control your camera app remotely, so you can use it as a remote shutter; it can be used to make calls, read messages and as a remote control for your TV. Anyone with the One Max would definitely find it useful but for everyone else they might find it as an accessory they do not need.
Just like the HTC One and other smartphones from HTC, the design language continues through on their accessories with stylish colour combination on the BoomBass, the aluminium build of the Mini + and the multipurpose feature of the BoomBass. HTC has surely managed to enhance user experience with those accessories.
