HTC Opens Up M8 Duo Camera Programming with SDK
Got your hands on the NEW HTC One M8? have it boot-loader unlocked and rooted and used firewater to S-OFF the device? What is next you might ask. Well for those of you who are feeling adventurous HTC has decided today to release their Dual Lens SDK for the M*. Previously constrained to the camera application that comes stock on the M8 it has now been free to use for the public. The second camera on the M8 is used for information to calculate depth of field which helps in the ufocus feature when editing and the 3D view which will give some depth when you either move the camera or touch with your finger. For those of you wondering where the specs for the secondary back camera is they can be found below.
• Pixel size 2.0 um • Sensor size 1/3” • f/2.0 • 28mm lens
In the current preview SDK there will be support for the DualLens or the DimensionPlus aspects of the double lens and we would expect this to expand as this SDK is being developed. This will open a new niche for developers to flock to to enhance current applications and allow developers to entice buyers to get an M8 for the added value with a few dozen more lines of code on the developers part.

With HTC not worrying about outselling the Samsung Galaxy S5 and concentrating on making the developers they have happy they are well on their way to enticing more developers to include their OS perks.
