It’s because that’s like no one’s favorite movie. People prefer more modern movies or other classics aside from DPS, which is fine, each to their own, but no one’s favorite is Dead Poets Society and it should be. It’s beautiful, the cinematography is impeccable (the way it’s filmed in a sort of cuticular motion, possibly alluding to how small their world feels in their prestigious academy), the writing/pacing/directing in general is fantastic. But the story. The acting. The relationships. It captures friendship, loyalty, literature, knowledge, and the arts in general in such a beautiful way. It captured the raw emotions of poetry so perfectly, it truly could not ever be redone in a better way.

Fun fact: Ethan Hawks (Todd’s actor) actually suggested they film that scene when they find out in the snow, and because of how cold it was, they only had one take to do it.

But yes, I’m aware of it’s brilliance as well. I’m happy to see someone as passionate of this film as I am!
