Black and Scarlet Cicada (Red-nosed Cicada)
Huechys sanguinea (Hemiptera - Cicadidae) is a small but beautiful black and red cicada. It has a red nose and abdomen contrasting with the black wings.
Adults can be observed in late August, September and October near illuminated buildings during the night.
This species is native to South and Southeast Asia, and is used in the traditional Chinese medicine.
