↝ ❀ Books mean and always have meant a lot to Clarabel. She loves them, it’s really as simple as that. The times she was trapped at home, not allowed to even step out of the vast manor by the sea, she would drown herself in them. Even when she was allowed to go in the water, she would bring a book outside with her for good measure. Having access to the books she did while she was homeschooled is possibly the only reason she isn’t horribly behind in school, often reading book after book about Magical Creatures, Potions, Herbology even. Though, if there’s anything that Clarabel is practically a walking encyclopedia on, it’s the Wizarding Wars, the casualties that came with it, the heroes, the villains, the families. The History of Magic. Clarabel contains all the information about it in her head, and as she got older, any of the stories she heard from her parents — particularly her mother — were about the wars. Her parents took delight in this, thinking that she wanted to know to use it as motivation to become what they wanted her to be: a weapon. But it did the opposite, making her disgusted from where she came from, what her parents and ancestors did. Not that she'd dare utter this aloud, though she suspected her parents had an inkling about how she felt.
Still, it is knowledge and the books that she reads that have most likely kept her sane all these years. Diving into other worlds to escape the one she was in, kept herself afloat. Walking into Hogwarts, seeing all the books in the library excited her beyond belief, which she had to contain at times. One day, she hopes to dare herself to touch the Muggle literature that adorns the shelves of Hogwarts. Until then, she’s content in reading the books about Muggle studies to make up for the years she’s missed.
