Mary J. Blige - Family Affair (Hugo Frederick Remix)
Last year, Melbourne producer Hugo Frederick was profiled as one of the the winners of Warp's and Bleep's Filtered competition, a contest in which unsigned electronic musicians submitted music in hopes of being discovered by the seminal label and selected to appear on a digital compilation of the best entries. Since winning the competition, Frederick has signed to the Plastic World imprint, and is set to unveil his Waved EP for the label early next year. "Hanging Gardens" serves as a teaser of the release, and sees Frederick exploring aquatic textures and movements which skip and weave over buoyant toms and autumnal synth pads. The production is full of bubbling builds which develop into pressurized bursts of interlocking melodic passages.
Hugo had a song premiered on XLR8R overnight. It's probs one of my favourite he's done.
#INDIE » Hugo Frederick » Limber
Lonestar Hugo Frederick came out with his fourth track avaliable on his SoundCloud page, entitled Limber, a twitchy mix of laid-back flow to the entire escapade, but a jumpy master list of samples engulfed into the project. He includes a wirey-feel to mediate the song at the beginning, creating a funky track which will be a unique collection to your iTunes and such. With more exposure coming for the young, 23-year old producer, high hopes are being established for a talented youngster.

Themed Cast No. 1: Australia
Australia, despite its rich and varied musical history, isn't a place hugely associated with electronic music. This perception is changing however, with a host of producers popping up around this great, isolated landmass we call home. From House and Techno, to R&B tinged Garage, and Dubstep inspired jams, there's a diversity here that's as mixed as Australia itself. We've also included a few tracks by producers from our Trans-Tasman neighbour, and long time friend, New Zealand. So go on mate - throw another shrimp on the barbie, pop open a cold beer, pause the Hottest 100, and enjoy the mix.
