Hugo Pool (1997)
The movie in which Malcolm McDowell talks to a Malcolm McDowell puppet.
SHORT BUT SWEET: THE FILMS OF ROBERT DOWNEY SR. (1966-1997)
Ok, so I finally watched Pool Girl and survived!
It was super weird but luckily not as bad as I feared, although yes, quite painful. It probably helped me cope that I had to stop halfway through to catch the cat again that had escaped due to my stupidity (we're just fostering and she's not supposed to go outside). The movie itself is really weird up to a point where I sometimes wondered who the hell thought of this stuff and why (the answer being Robert Downey Sr somehow wasn't too helpful...). But it's well done and has some really cool shots in it and I found the acting of pretty much everyone in it really good, especially the smaller roles. So ultimately I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, which is weird in itself... ;)
I have a lot of thoughts about Robert's acting in it and the whole situation at the time, but I'll let that sink in a bit before I maybe some something about that.
Robert Downey, Jr 's torso appreciation post.
