~Detail I Noticed In An Earthspark Episode That I must Yap About~
(Yep, that's the title now. :>)
Just as a heads up before reading! Topic of discussion below contains:
☆Spoilers for Transformers: Earthspark
(Episode: Fire and Ice)
(Two Images, only warning for them is episode spoiler.)
☆Spoilers for Transformers (2007 Movie)
☆ Discussion of Canonical Character Death
(Three Images. Warnings are for spoilers and a character dying on screen. Technically it doesn't count as robo gore, I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong about that though. And I know for some the scene itself as a whole can still be pretty upsetting. Take care of yourselves 'kay?)
Actual yapping is below the line break. Please mind the warnings! And enjoy my brain hyper focusing on yet Another Oddly Specific Thing!
So, I've finally managed to catch up with the newest parts of Earthspark! Can safely say that while it's easy to notice where the writing had it's uh...stumbles, I still enjoyed it fairly well. Was bemused by the different plot lines, nodding along to the usual Malto Family shenanigans. Cheering when a certain Enforcer got his debut moment.
And then this episode pops up. Fire and Ice.
My eyebrows were doing jumping jacks so much during this one, I'll tell yah. Between the easter eggs/references and just genuinely surprising moments. But in a good way. I like that this show still gets me feeling so many Emotions.
One bit of dialog in particular is never going to escape me now though. The fact that I still had the urge to jump online and Yap about it even hours later made that very obvious.
What would that be?
VVV This. This moment right here. VVV
(Turned on Subtitles to verify dialog.)
...
You could definitely see the loading icon pop up above my head when I first heard that little tidbit. The type of trying to remember something mode that completely zones you out. Two seconds later, my silly little self gets BLASTED straight back down memory lane as I processed where I'd heard something similar before.
"Oh right, I remember now-"
...
"...ohh no I remember now."
VVV . . . VVV
(*...insert silently sitting in tears here.* This scene shocked me stunned when I first watched it. And nearing 18 years later it still gets me watery eyed.)
When I tell y'all I SCREECHED as the pieces clicked, I mean that so genuinely. Had to pause the episode and Contemplate Implications and everything. All while my cat padded over to sit and give me The Look for scaring her. (She was sitting on my blanket covered legs when said Incident occurred. Sorry Kitty :<)
So, here's where the main majority of my yapping comes in. Because now I absolutely must speak about this matter so my brain will stop running around it in circles.
So for starters, anyone who doesn't know what that scene directly above is or what's happening. That's the Bayverse/Live Action versions of Megatron and Jazz...interacting during one of the battle scenes in Mission City.
Megatron is the big bad scary looking one perching on that building like the world's most terrifying gargoyle. (It is most definitely perching by the by. His feet kind of act like talons in this scene and his 'wings' even tuck up against his back a moment before that shot.)
Jazz is the poor bot pinned by his legs under the big guy's foot before proceeding to get grabbed. Dunno what else Megatron might have been planning to do here. But once Jazz starts snarking and snarling at him before finally taking a few shots it quickly devolved into the moment shown above.
Megatron gets his 'two pieces' very literally and viciously swift. By tearing Jazz in two at the mech's waistline.
(Still haven't forgiven Bay for this particular character death mind you. Even as a kid I already loved Jazz during the little moments of screen time he did get. And now that I'm older I still wonder about what he could have added to the movies. ...then again considering the movie immediately after this one and how things continued to drop after they forced the trilogy to continue... eh, might have dodged a bullet there.)
Getting back on topic though. With those two scenes firmly in mind, I have proceeded to over analyze and over think whatever I could. And I wanted to share it with all of you! (Please do feel free to add on in tags/reblogs. I love to hear different takes on this kind of stuff.)
Firstly, characters in scene. What struck me the hardest was that the enraged jabs in the Earthspark scene are between Bumblebee and Prowl. Two bots who are commonly at least friends if not pretty close with Jazz across various Transformers continuites when shown together.
(The fighting that happens in this episode and especially the various arguments/words exchanged under the influence of The Rage Virus are a whole other essay I could write about. But not in this one.)
That factor of association because of other stories, shows ect lead my mind onto the second big thing I noticed during the exchange. The same question asked gets two very similar yet also drastically different responses. And also the detail of which bot is saying what.
Whereas in the movie the answer from Bay!Megatron is: "No. I want two."
In TFE, Prowl responded with: "No. I want the whole thing."
I don't know if I'm just reaching here or if one of those beautiful bastards on the writing team for that episode of TFE decided to give a nod with that line. But something in my brain definitely perked up and caught on because of that and is refusing to let go without giving it a thorough thinking on.
Just... The almost mirrored responses. The way Prowl's answer sounded just a little oddly worded until you Know what happened after the original. The tense situations, were one mech is pinned down under the other's foot. The fact that they swapped/changed that particular part of the answer. And that it's PROWL saying it??
ARGH-
Welp. That's all for now. Brain is running out of word steam. (Can you tell? 😅) But I hope I got my general rant across. Let me know what y'all think! I might expand on this more later!
It wasn't normal for them to host. If their dinner plans were with someone, it was usually with her brother and Rachel. Or the plan had been to go "bother" Katherine about taking actual control of her heart stuff. She hadn't been there for all of it, but she had been there for the more recent stuff -- mostly there to poke and prod the woman into maybe doing what Kass had been trying to get her to do for...a long time. In between that, her internship, and helping out her brother when he needed an extra set of hands at the bar or with baby sitting -- she was surprised she hadn't pulled her hair out or had her own health issues because of it. She knew how exhausting it was for her husband -- so when she heard about this guy, she sighed a breath of relief for both of them.
Because maybe it meant that she would actually do something.
She rushed home and did everything -- showered, curled her hair, put makeup on, get dressed. She knew how important this night was -- for both of them. She padded out of their room -- her scrubs gone and now in a simple pair of jeans with a half tucked in band tee and into the kitchen to find Kass. A soft sigh fell past her lips, reaching into the drawer where she kept the hand cream for moments like these. She set it on the counter -- washed her own hands and dried them off before gently applying some of the cream to his hands and gently rubbing it in to his extremely over washed ones.
"Everything's going to be fine."
Almost as if it were on cue, she heard the knock at the door. She pressed a soft kiss to his cheek before padding to the front door. She took in her own deep breath and put on her warmest smile as she opened the door. Viv bit back any initial comments that threatened to spill past her lips and she cleared her throat, opening the door and gesturing for them to come in.
"Come on in. Be careful of the cats. Big black one is Soup, orange is Salad, and the one with the missing eye is Breadsticks," she looked at them with another smile, "And I'm Viv. Shoes off. Make yourself comfortable."
[ SAVE ] : for your muse to step in to save my muse in a fight
"Eyaaaugh!"
The pavement hit Sailor Moon hard as she braced herself for impact. Not far from her, the youma she was fighting snarled and grinned happily. Smelling blood, Sailor Moon forced herself up and winced, her vision blurry for a few seconds.
"That was too cruel!" she cried out, navy eyes full of anger. She noticed her arm and knee were scraped, blood staining her fuku, but she couldn't focus on it. The beast ahead of her was charging right for her.
"Not again!!" she cried, panicked as she threw her hands up. When nothing actually hit her, she gasped, lowering her arms and seeing a stranger join the battle.
cecil is seen sitting on a ledge within the forbidden woods, the butchered corpse of a large, beastly executioner resting mere feet away from him. below him, a writhing ball of snaked hissed, unaware of his presence. the hunter showed no sign of lunging at it from his perch, hand resting over the cleaver at his side.
☬~At long last Reyven had reached the Forbidden Woods, her progress having been slow not only to step foot in them in the first place, so committed was she to ensuring everyone else that could be saved was, but also through the woods itself. It was a dark and rotted place, defiled and foul at every turn. It made her mind and body uneasy the deeper she went and though she met resistance, she was also surprised to find evidence of perhaps another Hunter having made their way through, recently at that. Several times she wondered if it could have been Arthur as she made her progress deeper.
Her wandering eventually led her to an elevator shaft, though the contraption was already at the bottom and showed signs of recent use. Tempted was she to use it, but the evidence pointed to the chance of someone being around, someone she could question or get help from in guidance through the rest of the woods perhaps. Though…the possibility was also chanced of Arthur being in these woods somewhere as well and that had her rubbing her thumb on the grip of her pistol.
It was thus that she decided to move on down the cobbled path, coming across the corpse of…what used to be a man whose body was seemingly infested with snakes. It was a disturbing thought and one that set Reyven’s nerves on edge but she continued walking until she reached a small bump on the right side of the path, where it curved to wind down deeper into the woods. Furrowing her brow, the Hunter noticed a small ledge further down past a small jump that overlooked some of the woods below.
The decision that it’d be better to head that direction to get a better layout of what was ahead won over in her mind and after getting a running start, Reyven leaped to the other side and landed gracefully, tapering off her run and looking back at the small gap. Trained eyes spotted a scuff in the dirt close to where she had landed herself and it showed signs of another having made the same jump, likely recently. It seemed her chances of meeting whomever had come through before her were steadily growing…and admittedly that got her heart racing a touch anxiously.
Continuing forward, if a bit more cautiously, Reyven did soon spot another figure, this one in a wide brimmed had and overcoat, the corpse of one of the large hooded executioners nearby as he knelt over a ledge. Thumb rubbing her pistol harder, Reyven’s heart dropped and thudded hard, after all, what she saw met the description at least two people had given her of Arthur…
Her grip tightened on her pistol and she tried to keep her voice from shaking as she called out to the other, “Excuse me, but who are you? What are you doing in this place?” A part of her feared for what she’d see if the figure turned to her, but she supposed whether it was Arthur or not, she would remain ready for any possible hostilities.
If there was one thing Rita didn’t like being–it was wet. Besides the feeling, she could never seem to get herself warm properly, and this particular soaking was freezing.
Slowly but surely, body stiff and shivering, she turned to find the source of the water with a raging storm brewing beneath her shocked expression.
