I know that Jon in the comics is a major creep and an asshole, and that when people imagine a human Garfield AU they tend to picture "Jon is a loser being terrorized by his roommate who bullies him and spends the rent money on doordashing lasagna", but since seeing his characterization in the movie, the human Garfield AU that I picture is more along the lines of "Jon is a lonely bachelor who spoils the everloving hell out of his adult adopted son, who spends the rent money doordashing lasagna".
Odie is the responsible younger brother who Garfield picks on, Nermal Is the random ass annoying neighbor kid, and Garfield keeps convincing his parents to send him on "educational trips" to Abu Dhabi. Arlene is his GF who used to think she could fix him, and realized she's just gonna accept him the way he is.
