About Robocop AU
Sketch by @maelikki of course! Seeing as this AU is getting a lot of attention, here’s a few tidbits of our story headcanon that goes along with it:
Prelude:
Optimus was a cop named Orion Pax who had not just a mild obsession with taking Megatron down. Megatron knew about this, thanks to informants within the department. And he was kind of amused by it, since he has thick layers of immunity to investigations and Orion was a fresh-faced, un-bribe-able idealist which big bad Megs found kind of adorable and admirable.
Orion’s death was arranged by corrupt cops in higher positions, because Orion was coming too close to the truth (not on Megatron’s case, but he was working on organized crime in general). It was not Megatron’s doing, but he did know about it.
Orion was renamed to Optimus Prime when he “awoke” in his robot body. It is a new identity for him and he embraces that.
There are no human bits left in Optimus. Shockwave is the mad genius scientist who somehow managed to transfer a human mind into a digital form.
Optimus’ body was based on combat drone technology that Megatron obtained from some very high-up sources (since he is an arms dealer)
The Deal:
Megatron has an unspoken deal with Optimus that his own operation is untouched by the vigilante cop. This will often cause friction, but Optimus owes him his new life and he knows it.
Optimus has a motorcycle. Of course he does. He also tries to avoid lethal force where he can, but considering where he goes and who he is taking down, it doesn’t always hold true.
Optimus gets a lot of information on corrupt cops&etc from Megatron, but only where it doesn’t concern Megs’ own organization. It is a deal of convenience. OP can rampage through a lot of the criminal underworld and he’s taking out Megatron’s rivals in the process. Everybody wins.
Optimus gradually learns that just bulldozing through criminal organizations will not fix the world and he grudgingly accepts Megatron’s suggestion for a more tactical elimination of corrupt figureheads.
Dirty cops are Optimus’ rage point and Megatron is not fond of them either. He’s been burned one too many times by them and so he gladly funds Optimus’ radical moves to expose them.
Megatron’s business primarily deals in weapons export. He abhors human trafficking, does dabble a bit in narcotics though.
Aspects of their Relationship
Megatron ordered Shockwave to make the drone body more human. Shockwave promptly added pleasure equipment in form of robodong and vag. This is not something Megatron knows about UNTIL Optimus asks him some very specific questions as to why he has these parts in the first place.
Megatron doesn’t take long to come to terms with his attraction to OP. He was always interested in Orion and tbh, cars and robots do a good thing to his libido, so robocop OP is right up his alley. He does try to be lowkey about it, most of the time, but the silent ogling cannot be avoided sometimes.
Megatron once takes a bullet for Optimus, which promptly brings him lecture upon lecture during his recovery from his bulletproof robo-boyfriend. He still doesn’t regret his instinct to protect his lover, no matter how dismayed OP becomes.
OP is constantly in a moral dilemma about Megatron’s livelihood, but falls in love anyway. The one question he can never fathom an answer to is Why Megatron saved him in the first place.
Megatron is not at all opposed to being dominated by OP. In fact, he particularly relishes powerplay and roleplay in which OP “arrests” him and makes him pay penance for his crimes
Even when they are in love, they have the tension of their unresolved ethical issues laying between them, but both of them are adept at pushing it aside for “later”. Whenever this later is, it will not be pretty.
