        something about this man was off. he wasn't radiating energy, he seemed to suck it in. which ... shouldn't be possible. diana watched him surreptitiously, even if her assessment did not become narrower. usually she had a very fine sense of magic and its vibrations around her, but with him it was different.

       "are you looking for something in particular?" diana asked friendly, after all, they were in the flower shop she was working in and she would treat him as an ordinary customer.

        "i can’t control myself." amara whispered, horror swinging at her tone at the realization that she'll never be the same again. that she can't shake off the hell she endured the past two thousand years. "this is not the real me."

"---what are you doing here?" words come out harsher than she intended, but the shock of seeing him caught her off guard. He hasn't aged a day, she thinks. Celine was thankful her daughter wasn't home and she didn't expect her for several hours, because how would she explain that her father she had told her was dead....apparently wasn't. "---you need to leave, right now."
