I have been overcome by a sudden urge to talk about the plants my family owns.
Over the years I've named many plants but I've forgotten their names. But the ones I remember are the two grapes that my dad owns, Russi and Roda. I love those two, and I kinda feel a connection with Russi specifically, as I dug the hole we planted her in. The last I saw her, she was really lanky and had tiny leaves, while Roda had very big leaves. They also have an older rose 'sibling' called Elsa. Elsa sits right next to them, but it's a lot older than them.
I love them both equally.
We also planted 4 black currants a few years ago but I only remember the name of one of my brother's black currant. Bob. He named his tiny cactus the same. He...has a thing with that name.
There's also the orchid me and my mom adopted 8 years ago when we moved into our current home. Their name is Kuuking (it sounds like a Pokemon name, lol, but it actually translates as Moonshoe). They were in a VERY bad shape when we adopted them and we had to cut off their stem, along with the blossom. The gardening shop we bought them from kept them in a terrible condition, their roots were really cramped and there was no minerals or anything a plant would need in that bark dirt. Even now, after 8 years they have not fully recovered.. Still they haven't grown a new stem. But that's okay. I love them a lot! They used to have a nice spot on my room's window still. They're still there, but I moved to another room. They even acquired a few cactus friends! They're sprouting new big leaves and looking nice and healthy! We even had to repot them.
I love all my plants though, even if they don't have names. I wonder how well Russi and Roda fared this winter. I'll go visiting them this summer. They won't be carrying grapes for another few years, but I betcha that they're a lot taller since I last saw them!
