Ratchet (Transformers)- Chapter 1
"Tell me where Optimus is hiding."
Ratchet knew this was it. Being hunted by the humans was not how he saw his end. They'd work together side by side for years, yet this was what they got out of it. Death, by another cybertronian. A bounty hunter no less.
"Never." He replied. He already accepted his faith. He would not betray his own.
As Lockdown reached for his spark, he felt a brief tingling in his chest.
He'd watch so many of his comrades die in battle, somehow this felt gracious.
"Let him go." The female voice echoed, and Lockdown turned, metallic gaze fixing on the woman that stood at the top of the building. The men below raised their guns in confusion.
"Who's that woman?" Whoever it was wore a hood, they couldn't truly make out a face.
Lockdown wasn't offered a chance to reply, because the rapid explosions that went off beside them made the men retreat, yelling out orders. They couldn't pinpoint where the shots were coming from, and the first thing assumed was to take a shot in your direction, but when Lockdown's gaze raised from the smoke, Ratchet's body was gone, and so was the woman.
~~~~~~~
The woman stood over the body of the injured male that laid on the bed.
"Please wake up."
It was a plea for a life. The man stirred, the blood that dirtied his shirt visible. All of his limbs were bandaged, looking at him it was a miracle he was still moving. Green eyes opened slowly, and the woman standing above exhaled.
"You're alive." She blurted. The man blinked, once, twice, three times. He groaned, and when he finally took notice of the person before him, he backed into the cushion, raising his arms.
"Stay back human!" It was an order. You lift both your hands.
"Calm down, I'm not going to hurt you. "
The biggest problem for the man seemed to be your presence, that's until he truly looked at his arms.
He stared for a solid minute, flipping his wrist back and forth.
"Impossible.."
"I know this is going to take a while to adjust to but I really need you to be calm right now. "
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!"
You wince at his yell.
"Ease up, just let me explain everything."
With the way he was now glaring in your direction, you take a step back, just in case he got any ideas.
"You should be more grateful, I just saved your life Ratchet."
"You turned me human!"
"It was the only way to save you geez!" You were huffing, and when you finally were able to relax, you sigh.
“Listen, this form isn't permanent. I couldn't transport you the way that you were.
He must have been dead. This woman had not only somehow transported him away from danger, but she changed him. She altered his body. He could see no technology in sight that could offer an explanation for what was going on. Could he have been taken, maybe he was under some type of hallucinogen. Megatron was captured once by humans and kept for years. Who's to say they hadn't improved their systems. The fact that you knew him was enough proof.
"I'm not working with those soldiers back there if that's what you're thinking. Optimus Prime sent me."
That got him. He froze.
"That's not possible. Optimus would have mentioned you. My orders were to cut all ties with the humans."
"There are things he kept to himself, Ratchet. He was trying to protect you, all of you. It was a contingency plan. Optimus, he saved my life a few years ago. Not just me, but my family. I wanted to find a way to repay him, and this is what he asked, so I did it."
"I refused to believe that Optimus trusted a human, especially in these times. " He grunted as he forced himself to his feet, leaning on the wall as he held his bruised stomach. "
"Your kind betrayed us. I warned Prime that they were primitive irrational beings, but he didn't listen. Now the very planet we swore to protect has turned its back on us."
"Despite what you've been through, we're not all heartless. If I wanted to hurt you don't you think I would have just left you back there. Why would I go through so much effort to save you?"
"I've given up trying to figure out what drives the human mind." He was clearly in pain, but he refused to stay on the bed. "
"Listen, you're safe here. They can't find you. Right now you're just like any other human, and that bastard lockdown is gonna get a nasty surprise when Optimus finds him. He told me to lay low. He's gonna to stop this, make it so you guys won't have to run and hide. "
"You're naive if you believe that, human."
"Stop calling me human! I have a name."
"I address my comrades by their names. You are neither a friend nor a comrade. Release me at once."
"If I take off those cuffs they'll find you, would you quit being stubborn and just sit the hell down and HEAL!!" your yell startles him, not the volume, but the force that makes his body drop back on the bed. He stares up, now more shocked than when he woke up and realized his body was of flesh and not metal.
The thin cuffs on his wrists glow a bright blue, one that is reflected in your eyes. With clenched fists, he can see your agitation from here. He's still trying to put together what just happened. You somehow subdued him. What's worse is that the energy that rushed through his body felt cybertronian. But that made no sense.
"She's a human."
How could you possess a power that was distinct to only his kind.
"You aren't a regular human." His observation makes you blink. When your eyes reopen, the light is gone. You're a little calmer now.
"Damn it."
That was not intentional.
"I'm sorry." You're trying to prove that you aren't a threat, not give him more reasons not to trust you.
"Please just..just stay here and heal." Ratchet is now more confused. Why are you pleading for his well being? "I promised him I'd save you. Will you just let me try."
Ratchet isn't sure what to say now. As it stands, he can't leave. His body barely survived staying upright. Now with the discovery of your mysterious abilities, he has very little say in the matter.
"Do what you want, human."
This is no longer within his control
