A beautiful rainbow flashed across the sky earlier this week. A perfect symbol for today, October 11th, known as national coming out day, a day designed to acknowledge the pivotal step taken by those who are LGBTQ+. Its hard to realize that your preference is different, especially when you were conditioned to be straight because thats the societal and cultural norm. Aside from the obstacles they fight to be accepted and respected for who they are, some suffer a greater struggle, the struggle to accept themselves. Each journey on this path is similar yet different, some face more turbulence, for others, its a little bit more smooth and some people are forced back in the closet and they live this identity in silence, in secret, or deny and try to be "normal." Eventually, some of those who go back in come out again and it may come out in controversial or shocking ways. Living in your truth especially when it is different from the norm is difficult and a brave thing to do. I can only imagine that the transition between the life of being hidden as opposed to the life of being out also requires significant adjustments. Im glad that society is more progressive and tolerant of the LGBTQ community though in some aspects, it stil has a long way to go. Love is love and love wins because its the same energy just manifested different for different people. Sexuality is a vast experience with so many different varieties for different people. Ultimately, your orientation is a big part of you but it doesnt completely define you. But nonetheless, it is beautiful to embrace love and sexuality from an individual perspective, step out into your light and be unapologetically you. #october11th #nationalcomingoutday #recognizingtheLGBTQcommunity #humansarehumans #loveislove #lovewins 🌈❤🧡💛💚💙💜🌈 https://www.instagram.com/p/CGOLGylli73tRUZwJgLRpcy8tNJtdVq8-ESZJ80/?igshid=1mjf3befocb8n
