They auction them off. The Other auction off your Names. For Memories and Emotions and Love. It’s a sight to see, a gathering of Them with little cards all pining for the best Names. Feel that pulling between multiple of Them and you know that that’s when it’s happening. Hope that your Name doesn’t end up at an auction, else I might claim it for myself. -hummingbird
you may call me. you may call me. you can call me. you can call me. never my name is. never my name is. never answer a can i have your name. never answer a can i have your name. i fear for you. i fear for you. you poor, poor soul. good luck. -the hummingbirds
A Guide to Caring for Griffin Friends:
(Written by hummingbird and Friends)
Give them a feeder with a perch. It’s very tiring to beat your wings 80 times a second.
Put your letters by a slightly open window, preferably with a ribbon to grab.
Don’t use red food dye. It hurts them :(
They enjoy eating meat, so bits of flesh by your letters are always a good option :)
Put out friendly and bright colored nectar flowers!
They will go to war with any cats in your dorm. It gets bloody. Be warned.
You can give them bits of fluff and string to make their nests out of! Their babies are very small.
Their claws and beaks are sharper than you think. Wear gloves when handling.
If you find a baby away from its nest, check for injuries, and if there are none, try to find the nest. If you can’t, put it in a warm, open top box. If no parent comes to claim it within 1.5 hours, call your local wildlife specialist.
Just so that you know, if you try to keep a griffin, and are not a rehabilitator, my friends and I will come for you. You will not have fun. That is a Promise. They are friends and messengers, not pets, and do not belong indoors. :)

I drew for her and now I cannot stop. I don’t think that I want to stop, either. She is very pretty, and she loves me, in any way that They might be able to. She promised that we would be together at least until the end of my life, if not until the end of hers. I hope it is the latter, many millennia from now.
The Northeastern students are... also strange. Their attitudes are far less friendly than some, but should you feel the want to get to know them, they stick hard and true and loyal. They bring more jackets than any one person should need, and give them to the students shivering when it’s “cold”. Their only payment is the satisfaction of being able to make fun of them because it’s only 50° out and where I come from it’s usually -30° so suck it, Wren. (1/2)
They talk of the magic of Autumn (and get Taken the most during the season) and waking up to the maple trees a fiery orange. They talk about getting Lost on snow days only to be Back when they’re called in for dinner and hot chocolate. When it’s a proper Nor’Easter outside, and the power in the building has gone out, their dorm rooms are somehow still a comfortable 70°, and they’re cooking up a warm soup to share (Freely Given, this time). They are the Northeastern. (2/2)
Gifts from the fae are neither good nor bad, they are merely natural. It is the nature of things that they give a passing token to enter, after all, they’ve been doing it for centuries. It’s rude to not give a hospitality gift, and the one given to me just happened to be their love. It was all that I could ask for, and all that I would accept.
A charm for you: an iridescent black feather off the ground, painstakingly cleaned and groomed, and a friendship bracelet interwoven with gold thread.
This is a kindness beyond anything I could have looked for. I have nothing truly of my own to give you in return, but I can offer you this - a ring of shell, pale pink and white, which when looked through will show people as they wish to be. It will give you a migraine used too often, but I hope it will be useful in your dealings.
