Dazed and Confused| College AU
She was dreaming, nothing was making any sense, events were overlapping each other too quickly to be part of reality.
All of a sudden someone was screaming. It was not very far from where she was, because she could hear it clearly, it was that close. The source was nowhere to be found, it kept on going over and over. It was then that she realized that consistent screaming was not coming from the dream, it was outside, in the real world. She willed her eyes to open, her vision was blurry and she couldn't focus for the first few seconds. She found the source of the screaming, the alarm keep going until she hit the button to switch it off.
Ada was tired, wanting to get back to sleep. She has only just gotten to sleep, how could it be morning already? She glanced at the time, the digits read 7:30 AM, she needs to hurry if she wants to make it to class on time. She rose to her feet and regretted it immediately. What felt like Thor's hammer pounded on her head. [ Hangover, great. ] She tried to move slower, as not to disturb the pounding an make it worse. She needs to take a quick shower and be on her way, if she wanted to make to class on time. But first, she needs something for this blinding headache. She reached for the small cabinet and grabbed some aspirin as she got into the shower.
She had her own apartment right next to campus, she liked her privacy and did not like the idea of sharing her living space with someone else. She stood under the hot water as she waited for the pills to work. When did she get back? Better yet, how did she get back here? She was at a party, drinking and having fun, and that's it. She remembers nothing after that. She knows that she has arrived very late, it feels as if she has only slept for ten minutes. And this headache, this day is not going to be a fun one.
After the quick shower she dressed quickly and grabbed a bag that contained her gym clothes. What was worse than waking up hungover is being forced to endure a P.E class, at eight in the morning. Whoever decided on this had the cruel intension of torturing her for the duration of the semester. Who even teaches P.E in college? And why is it a mandatory class? This is one big joke and she's not laughing at it.
She could skip the class, use the extra hour to get back to sleep and cure this headache. It was tempting, very tempting. But it was only the first day, if she skips now she might not be able to do so when there is an emergency. Besides, attending the first class would let her find leeways and loopholes in instructor's policies and she can use that to her advantage. Her short walk to campus was awful, the sun was too bright, the birds were too loud, and everything was plain annoying, in a painful way.
One advantage of being so early in the day is that not many people were around yet. Only few unlucky people who has classes at this ungodly hour, like herself. She made it to the gym on the other side of campus, barely on time to change and get the day started. Her head was still pounding and she regretted not skipping this class. As far as she's concerned, this is an emergency.
