I wanna cry and I wanna loveBut all my tears have been used up
The sun began to set as Lorelei took a seat on her bed. Their bed. A place where Hunter and Lori spent many nights, talking among other things. No one would have guessed for the two of them to become a thing. On paper it didn’t work out, but neither of them believed in cliches anyways. It all started after the girl had gone through a particularly bad day. Somehow, he comforted her. And their relationship budded from there. First it was just a friendship, but then it turned into dating, and here they were, nearly a year into it.
"I just don’t understand why you can’t trust me," the alpha huffed out, crossing his arms over his chest. They had gotten into another argument, with her trust issues at the heart of it. A hand went through her light brown hair as she let out a heavy sigh, not bothering to look over at him. Instead her gaze fell on a box of cigarettes, considering the option of just going outside and relaxing, dealing with this another day.
"Let’s just talk about this later okay?"
"Don’t be a coward, we’re going to talk about it now," he demanded. "I’ve trusted you - something I’ve never done before, so I don’t understand why it’s so hard for you to do.”
Anger rose in the girl. She scoffed at his words and rose to her feet, facing him now. “Because I’m so much like you, huh? You’ve never been in love before. You’ve never experienced the pain of having someone you opened up to betray you.”
Lori was taken aback at the words, but she stood her ground. “No. You haven’t had someone tear your heart out of your chest and tear it to shreds-”
"really? Because that’s what this feels like. The fact that you can’t even trust me after I’ve given so much to you hurts like fucking hell." The words surprised her, but more than anything it was the look he gave her. It was a mixture of anger and sadness, the ghost of a tear in his eyes.
What had she done? For several moments, she was dead silent. And Hunter filled it with a bitter laughter, “see even now, you just can’t even express to me how you’re feeling.” With that he started grabbing some things.
"What are you doing?" she hastily asked, though she already knew.
"I’m leaving. I can’t do this anymore. I can’t put up with your trust issues. I’m better by myself anyways. It hurts less." That being said he grabbed a few more things and headed for the door - lingering for a moment, waiting for her to say something. But she remained where she was completely silent.
And with that, he was gone.
But he was right, it was easier to be alone, no one could hurt you. The girl collapsed onto the bed staring out the window at the grey sky. She had expected tears to roll down her face, but none came. All of those tears had been used up. All of those times she had been hurt before had left her scarred and bitter. And now, she had gone and done the same thing to someone else. All because of another love.
