After All This Time
Hunter saw the twitch in her eyebrow and sighed to himself. He looked her over and leaned on the table a bit. “I haven’t seen anyone since we broke up…a few girls gave me their numbers but I never called them or had the desire to” he said and looked down “I’m alive…kind of…had an incident at work where I got caught off guard and ended up with stitches but I’m fine. I can’t say I’m happy but I’m alive” he said softly and looked down at his bourbon before he finished off the last of it and looked at her again. He didn’t want to hurt her or guilt her by any means. Hell if he was being honest with himself he wanted another chance with her, but he didn’t know if that was an option. @mrbadwolf93
Lark had been trained from a young age how to hide her emotions. Her father helped to foster that talent, and now her job with the FBI required her to keep her emotions in check. When she was on the job, she was in control. When she was drunk and alone with the man she still loved. . . well that was another story. There was clear worry in her expression when Hunter told her that he had been injured on the job. “What happened?” Was she even allowed to ask that now? Was it fair of her to ask him about his job when she couldn’t openly speak about her own?”
