hunter was ready to get back in the game. the last couple of fights hadn’t been his strongest and he couldn’t afford to lose status or momentum. all that encompassed respect in the underground fighter scene. he wasn’t about to lose it. his opponent tonight, sean, wasn’t an easy guy to take on but he’d spent the better part of the day training and getting his mind on track. the less he thought about becca, the more focused he was. but it wasn’t easy to stop. 

after it took some convincing to get her to come, he was relieved she showed up. thinking maybe she’d told him she would but still wouldn’t show. he wasn’t able to say anything to her before the match and maybe it was for the better. as much as he refused to admit it, he needed to keep his head in the game and he couldn’t do it thinking about her. instead, he opted to wink at her but his expression quickly changed when he spotted his brother come up next to her. he didn’t get the chance to process max being there when the fight began and he made the mistake of letting sean land a few punches he’d failed to dodge in time. eventually though, he managed to pick up his game and started swinging fists and jabs. the sight of his brother clearly looking a little too cozy beside her rubbed him the wrong way. enough that it fueled him to draw blood out of sean and earn himself a knock out. he didn’t stick around for the winner announcement, immediately walking off to collect his money before heading over to where the two stood. his chest was covered in sweat and his knuckles bruised and bloody but he didn’t think she’d mind as he closed in on her, cupping her cheek and crashing his lips against hers. his mouth moving passionately against hers despite still being somewhat out of breath, he inhaled through his nose, his other hand pulling her close to his warm body. it wasn’t until max--whom he hand’t seen in months--spoke up with a chuckle ‘since when is this a thing?’ that he pulled back, his gaze still resting on hers. “hey,” he smiled, brushing his thumb against her cheek while still ignoring max for the moment.

“look, i didn’t mean for it to get out. did i have it on my phone for longer than i should’ve? maybe. but i would never actually want that to leak.” hunter explained as he paced in the small space of his dressing room trailer and gestured to where his phone sat atop the counter, the screen glowing and silently vibrating with each notification.

Wendy had just left the library and was on her way back to her room when she caught sight of what she thought, and almost didn’t hope, was a familiar face. While she liked knowing that her friends and family were safe, she really wished that it wasn’t on this island where they were all but prisoners. 

“Hunter?” she asked, coming up and furrowing her eyebrows, only to relax and offer him a gentle smile. “Oh my gosh.” She ran toward him and wrapped her arms around his waist (she was much too short to reach his neck). “You’re here.”

@sunktheglcw Hunter sat in the driver's seat of his truck with Chris in the passenger seat beside him. After a few weeks of putting it off they decided it was time to get Chris's stuff and face his father. Hunter knew this was hard for Chris, and that the blonde probably was not too excited but it had to be done. Chris lived about two hours away from where Hunter and Saint Anthony's was located and they were almost there. Hunter's brothers were trailing behind them in their other car, they decided they would only come inside if help was needed. Hunter wasn't scared to see Chris's father, not much scared the male, he was more concerned about what he would do when he came face to face with the man that had assaulted and abused Chris for so long. The older male turned down the radio which was playing the younger male's music and reached over and rested his hand on Chris's upper thigh giving him a slight squeeze. "How are you doing princess?" He asked his tone soft as he alternated his eyes from the road to look at Chris for a moment.

hunter knew his head wasn’t in the game tonight. with everything going on with becca, it was no surprise that he’d taken a beating. in an attempt to cheer him up, tyler encouraged him to tag along for some drinks. tyler was always more likely to get laid when hunter played his wingman simply because they attracted girls in twos but he made it clear he wasn’t down for that. he wanted a drink. or ten. settling by the bar counter, he tossed by shot after shot. constantly turning away girls in a slur of words. the one he actually wanted to go home with hadn’t shown up to the fight. 

at some point, tyler cut him off and the next thing he knew he was being shoved into the backseat, a girl riding shotgun. presumably his soon to be one night stand. he wasn’t really listening to their conversation. his ears had only perked up when he heard him say becca’s name. “yeah, yeah leave me at hers.” he nodded decidedly. eventually they found their way to her place and he stumbled out of the car till he trudged up to her door. leaning against the edge of the doorframe, he knocked on the door and looked back over his shoulder at tyler who had his window down. he flipped his best friend off as a sign of affection rather than waving him off before watching him drive away. “beccuhhhh,” he called out, sloppily pushing his hair back to look good as if he hadn’t just fought and gotten marks and bruises from his brow to his knuckles a few hours ago.

hunter knew he’d fucked up the moment jenny called him to let him know whatever he’d done to becca, he’d screwed up what they had. it had been a lot for one night. especially a day after finding out she’d slept with someone else. granted, so had he but at that point, he didn’t know if she even cared when he hooked up with other girls. she’d never hinted that she did. on top of it all, he was frustrated with the whole steph situation, genuinely worried for jack’s safety was much as her own. sure, she was worried about their son but he knew who steph had it out for most was her. after stuffing a couple things into his duffle, he headed to the hotel he’d booked for them. his barely healed, bruised knuckles rapped against the room door. “hey, it’s me..” he assured her from the other side to dismiss any doubt that it could’ve been steph.
