The machina known as the “Magitek Sky Armor” is designed to seat one pilot. As the name suggests it is an airborne unit. If it looks rather small for a magitek unit, that is because it is. It is designed for maximum maneuverability. These pilots are given mostly long-range capabilities, including a hook which can latch onto an enemy combatant to damage, or to simply attempt to hold in place. The easiest way to combat this armor, of course, is to take out the pilot, but a bit of creativity could prove useful.

Jace says: "The expression "fight fire with fire" comes to mind in this case. Considering it's speed, a well-equipped mage or sharpshooter would be best in battle against this particular Garlean construct."

This vilekin-like armor is known as the “Armored Weapon”.This magitek armor may look rather silly, but it’s design is rather ingenious. It maintains balance by shifting weight onto its many legs. Similarly, it is equipped with both close-quarter combat and long range capabilities. The pilot is housed within a sealed cockpit, designed to keep them safe from incoming attacks, as well as the Weapon’s massive firepower. Some models are also equipped with the ability to track its enemies and launch a homing attack. The more the enemy moves, the better, it seems. Despite being rather speedy in battle, this armor is still heavily armored. Be careful if one of these finds you on the battlefield.

Jace says: "This is perhaps one of the more difficult magitek to combat. Its mobility combined with its mixed combat abilities make it a formidable opponent in battle. Take caution in battling this magitek."

As of now, the Codex is mostly in “request mode” since Jace is enjoying drumming up codex pages based on what creatures you all find interesting. There will be some posts coming that aren’t requests, of course, but feel free to send those asks and messages!

Help Jace with his Codex Pages!

Hello friends. Once again, I call on you all to come and help me with one of my ongoing project (and likely forever ongoing projects) The Hunter Codex.

Normally, I post Hunter Codex pages based on what mobs at the time seem relevant or interesting, but that has gotten a tad dull. I have an idea that makes it fun. It’ll kind of be like a Pokedex now, and I am the Pokemon Researcher, Professor Hunter.

THEREFORE.

I call upon you, brave adventurer, to help Jace Hunter, Extraordinary Scholar, Summoner, and all around Greatest Mind in All Eorzea to help me with my project.

This is a simple task, with the added benefit of you perhaps gaining some knowledge or insight or what have you, here is how it works.

You have three options to choose from!

1. Send me a message, with either a link to a screenshot and/or the name of the monster/mob/etc you are looking to learn about. Be sure to include any specifics about the monster. I am pretty general with the codex, but now I’d like to know about what exactly you’d like to know about.

2. Feel free to make it an in-character thing! Shoot me a message in game or on Tumblr or Skype (Kamiwolfy) and we can start up some RP about the monster you are looking for! If you are not on Balmung, we can RP on Skype! Just add me and tell me who you are from tumblr.

3. Send me an anon/non-anon ask! If you are too shy for some reason, then by all means, send me an ask and I will get to work.

This is NOT some kind of giveaway. I STRONGLY encourage everyone to give this a try, put me to work, and help me fill up the Codex!

Welcome new followers!

Thank you for following the Hunter Codex!

I wanted to take a moment to say thanks to the people who update the Gamerscape page for XIV.

I’ve said this before in a post, but I do follow their Regnum, Kindred, Genus model for this codex, as it seems to be the standard for Raimdelle’s codex, which Jace would have followed and respected as he began a more “modern”, updated version of the codex.

I’d also like to thank @zaheela. It has been a while since I’ve spoken to this wonderful person, but they have supplied me with the little Jace icon in the bottom corner of the pages, and I still love it to this day. Thank you.

I also thank @haybayrhiannon for coloring the icon!

Next, I invite you all, of course, to reblog and like the posts as you see fit. I do appreciate the support.

And lastly, yet most importantly, I ask that you send in your ideas or monsters that you would like to see covered by the Hunter Codex and Jace. With your ideas and asks, I feel we can make quick work of the codex and fill up these pages!
