FusionFall Bases and Outposts Headcanons: Hunter’s Crest
After the Battle of Hero’s Hollow, the Fusion Fighters were pushed back to Hunter’s Crest--the remnants of an ancient fortress and the mountain range between the two areas helping barricade the latter. Once just a SACT camp, the outpost now finds itself as one of the last surviving barriers between Fuse and his conquest over the whole of the Darklands.
With the high traffic of Fusion Fighters passing through and after the loss of Hero’s Hollow, Hunter’s Crest has a problem boarding people: Since the outpost was originally just a camp, most Fusion Fighters are required to stay in tents until a more permanent set-up can be established.
To help solve this problem and strengthen the outpost overall, the Fusion Fighters there have attempted to reinforce the old fortress. However, with fusion monsters constantly pushing in on their location, it’s hard and tiring work that’s been setback plenty of times.
Losing at Hero’s Hollow meant more than just a shift in numbers: It also meant a shift in purpose. Formally focusing on research, the outpost now devotes itself to holding its ground against Fuse’s army and seeing how much they can push back to start regaining territory. The outpost, however, is still run by the SACT agents who first established it.
Much to everyone’s chagrin, the outpost was also tasked with keeping an eye on Demongo--who no one trusts to this day. If it wasn’t for his fighting prowess--despite however much power he lost to his Fusion-self--the commanders there would’ve put up a bigger fight to have him stationed literally anywhere else. He might help keep the place safe from fusion monsters, but the Fusion Fighters still intend to sleep with their eyes open.
A small team of Fusion Fighters is tasked with search-and-rescue duty. Some of their numbers went missing in the initial battle, and now there are always losses as much as there are victories in the area. While it probably means that those soldiers fell into Fuse’s hands, it’s still better to have someone keep looking in case it is just a loss of communications or similar problem.
