With the theory that the Darklands is the original troll homeworld, what do you personally surmise Troll kind and their society was like before they moved to Earth?

Man... I said I'm going to give just short simple answers, but here I am, this was just too tempting lol xd

Ancient Darklands

Before it decayed, Darklands used to be a lush place and full of life and magical energy, where the trollkind got its beginning.

When the nonliving takes its first breath of life

Trolls got their start basically as living rocks, there they started to develop more advanced features.

Smoother, softer and more flexible flesh. Skeleton, blood, organs, awareness, etc...

(Two versions, one with smoother skin and one more bumpy)

First trolls were quite small and primitive, but still impressive and successful beings, with their thick and durable hide and long lifespan

Trollkind evolved to be thriving and vast in the Darklands, even long before the openings to the Surface world. And even be able to develop sapience and complex societies.

When the portals opened, a proportion of the trolls migrated to the Earth and adapted, while the rest stayed in their home realm.

But when the first Heartstone rotted, it destroyed the Darklands' Worldstone with it, leaving the realm near uninhabitable, which led to the extinction of the ancient troll species of the Darklands.

These forgotten trolls live only in some legends anymore.
