Hi! I'm one of your new followers! Do you know any good online or book resources for brand new beginners? I've wanted to learn sewing forever and am getting a good machine for my birthday :)
Hello! Welcome to the Sewing Community...haha..be prepared it is a wild ride. It always depends if you are more a visual learner, then youtube and blogs (with a lot of pictures) etc. are perfect for you, if you are a reading/writer then you should stick to books and also blogs. My advice would be, start with something simple, but at the same time it should be a project that fills you with enthusiasm. In the beginning you can easily get frustrated. But keep in mind, after years of sewing i still get frustrated and demotivated sometimes...it is normal, it will change again. For Books i must admit i´m a huge fan of the older editions. (From the 1970-1990). And i don´t know many in english. (I´m not a native-speaker).
I can only pass on, what i heard from other sewers:
The Complete Guide to Sewing - from Reader´s Digest (the book from the 70´s seems to be better than the new one)
Singer - The Complete Guide to Sewing
The Sewing Book - Alison Smith
