So incredibly grateful for Ryan, his family, and his scout friends who took on a massive Eagle Scout project at @blackberrycreek this weekend! Two and a half days of hard work to put in a new corral which will house a quarantine barn for sick, injured, or new animals and a complicated funnel/gate system for getting our large residents (cows and pigs) into a squeeze chute to be safely worked on by our veterinarian, @nstab6 Both sets of Ryan’s parents worked all weekend helping him every step of the way, and he had a ton of support from his fellow scouts, their families, and very generous donors who funded his ambitious project! He’ll be back next weekend to finish up the painting and gates, and then we can start training the animals to run through the chute with treats so they know it’s a safe place. An extra shoutout to @nosh.on.plants who took the lead on this project so @_mother_of_chickens could focus on animal care and finish up @bigdayofgiving thank-you letters. #husbandoftheyear It takes a village to run a sanctuary, and we are so grateful and proud of Ryan for donating so much time, money, and energy to the animals.
