@hauntedtelepone: My mother lived in Israel most of her life, but she always counted in French. Numbers were different, she told me. But also she was a fool because NUMBERS being easier in FRENCH!?
ok i took 3 years of french so i understand that numbers in french are just, horrendously stupid. but she’s right, numbers are different -- at least for some of us. like ok,, first i gotta make sense of the number and now i have to convert it into a whole different language ! there’s a whole article here about how bilinguals will often switch back to their native language for counting bc math is just so different
finally got a sweater i’ve always wanted so here’s a selfie
peak humor was that yoi parody where op had viktor speak w a russian generated voice but typed in english except for #s so there would just be lines with russian like “Well i just took a тридцать четыре hour nap”
but also fucking mood bc if i’m tired & speaking in a foreign lang, the numbers can get fucked. catch me talking to my est teacher in the morning like “noh ma magasin thirty four tundi”
i don’t possess the incredible self-restraint necessary in order to not look at my small tortoise, who is sleeping comfortably in a blanket
i swiped right on a girl a while ago (idk my own sexuality dont ask ty) whose bio simply read “i hate the office, fight me about it” bc i mean, why wouldnt i. just noticed she messaged me asking me about my tort and she answered my response. this is cool, i got someone new near me to actually talk to me lmao
i saw that one post that says bella’s story is a tragedy partially due to her losing herself (ie, the clumsy human becomes the most graceful vampire) and yeah that’s a cool reading. but can i suggest a The Little Mermaid retelling of twilight wherein she changes bc she’s more comfortable / confident as a vampire and this is her reaching self-actualization on her own. like, forget edward here. bella always related more to vampires (there’s even that post saying what if ppl read bella as the vampire from the beginning since she’s pale, squeamish around blood, etc.) and maybe vampire-fucker bella just wants to be part of that community and read edward as a means to an end. re: ariel who always liked human stuff and eric is just a vassal towards self-transformation as a human. i’m not saying she has to change, it’s just developing into someone she wanted to be due to personal interests. bella’s changes becomes a lot more understandable and palatable when we consider that she’s more comfortable now that her “status” aligns w her identity better
this doesn’t dismiss the implication that her changes conform to feminine standards of beauty and is therefore problematic. it’s just a suggestion of rereading her changes to be more, uh, palatable ig
