Beaches near Husum, Germany, August 2025
The Dockkoog beach was the best place. My dream for this trip was to get to sit in a Strandkörbchen and this was the first (and only) place where there were a couple of them that weren't locked. We ate our dinner there, watching the water slowly disappearing, and then we decided to wade. It was really cold and windy and I hate getting my feet dirty, but the sun was setting and I thought this could be once in a lifetime opportunity. There were other people wading through the mud which encouraged us, and before (and after) we went in, I chatted with a German grandma who also came with her husband to have a nice time watching the sunset. She thought we were Dutch. The mud was cold and slippery and we were dirty to our ankles, my whole feet disappeared under the mud. And I was freezing, washing the mud off. But it was such a nice experience, the sunset, the cold mud, the children wading with their parents, and the utter calmness of the moment. 10/10 would recommend.
