S as in sulfur smell by Peter Thoeny - Quality HDR Photography Via Flickr: We went hiking up the Reykjadalur valley in Iceland that has many geothermal activities with sulfur smell, including a thermal river where you can bath. On the way back in the early morning I climbed up on a hillside to get this high vantage point view of Highway 1, the highway that circles the island of Iceland. I processed a balanced and a photographic HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. Reykjadalur Hot Spring, Iceland. This hot river near the town of Hveragerdi, about an hour's drive from Reykjavik is one of the best hot pools. The easy hike takes about 1 hour to reach the river from the parking. On a clear day, the view is awesome with mountains and steam rising from the ground. The river is free to use.
