her feet take her somewhere, while her mind is occupied elsewhere. there’s a non-zero chance that she has just lost her best friend of the past decade, her supposed best friend forever, and riley doesn’t exactly know what to do with herself. she only realizes when she’s outside of the apartment building where she’s taken herself, and then she makes her way up to the residence of her only relative currently in reach. josh. she can count on him to comfort her when she’s upset, even if he didn’t understand the situation she’s in; but in this case, she knows he does. she knows he’s on her side. tears finally break from the hold she’s had on them since her conversation with maya. when her uncle’s door opens for her, she opens her mouth to say hello, but only a sob pours out.
