I finally finished editing and changing chapter one! Hope you enjoy!! Hollywood U: Rising Stars Fan Fic Day One (Some conversations are from the game yes I know. I'm only doing that for the first one and then I plan to switch over to my own storyline. I just want you to get to know some of my favorite characters and get to know Selena a little bit.) The first thing that woke me up was the morning light seeping through my dorm room windows, and the second, my alarm clock's endless beeping. In my sleepy haze I felt around for my phone. Finding it, I pressed the snooze button; ten more minutes of sleep wouldn't hurt, would it? "Selena," my room mate, Sophia, chimed, "time to wake up!" I listened to her footsteps as they walked towards the window. She playfully laughed as she pushed back the curtains and the light burst onto my face. "Good morning to you too," I groaned as I turned to face the wall trying desperately to escape the light that kept me from my much needed sleep. I pulled my blanket up over my face to shield my tired eyes from the light. "Well, I can see someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!" she chirped. I rolled my eyes at her. Why does she have to be a morning person? "Remember today we have class with Professor Hotty!" she giggled trying to pull the blanket off of me, but I wouldn't let go of the fuzzy warmth. "You should be excited," she mused, "it's our first day at college. This year were going to meet cute boys and make dumb college girl mistakes! We're going to be the life of the party! Now get up, because I absolutely cannot wait to meet Prof. Hotty!" "I've heard that Professor Hunt is a hot head, but I'm not so sure about him being attractive, hot..." I sighed, knowing that she would never stop going on about him. I slowly rolled out of bed, procrastinating wouldn't pause time, and knowing Hunt, we wouldn't dare be late to class. Students passed by us going different ways having happy conversations with their friends. Some I recognized as directors and young models, and others as fellow actors and actresses. Sophia and I climbed the stairs to the building where most classes were held. "Oh, and, Selena, did you know that he was ranked 33rd in Starlet Magazine's Sexy 100?" Sophia mused on about Hunt. I had droned Sophia's speech about Hunt out for the whole walk and became lost in my own thoughts, remembering life at home. It was hard to not miss my old friends, but it's a new life, a new start. I need to let go of the past hurt, actually let people get close to me. I need to meet people I can trust, but when I'm scared of being hurt again, that's hard. I've been through heartbreak too many times to remember. Sophia stopped at the top of the stairs. "Selena, are you even listening to me?" she asked. My mind flew back to present day as Sophia stared at me awaiting an answer. "Huh?" I asked. "Sorry I -" "Never mind," she retorted, "we're almost to class anyway." We pushed open the double doors and entered the building to be greeted by a cold wave of air conditioned air. I stood gaping at the massive structure and design of the building. It was a mix of both modern style and old vintage 1900s design. Art and photographs from each decade hung on the walls, and many film posters, both old and new, were displayed around class room doors. Sophia and I entered an auditorium door next to the sign "Professor Hunt" and took seats in the middle. My watch read 10:30, right on time. Professor Hunt strolled in from a door at the bottom of the large room. "Oh. My. Gosh. He's even hotter in person!" Sophia frantically whispered to me. Her jaw dropped as she stared at the professor. "Yeah, I get it, it's hot in here. I'm sweating too," I answered sarcastically, smirking. She playfully hit me in the shoulder and laughed. "Stop that, I'm being serious!" Professor Hunt clears his throat. "Chatty girls in the back, sorry to interrupt your extraordinarily important conversation, but we have a class to start." He glares up at us. After class Sophia and I ran back to our dorm rooms quickly to grab a bite to eat before heading to the pool to relax. We're walking down the hallway when we accidentally bump into a pretty girl with blonde hair. Quickly we say sorry and continue to walk on but she stops us. "Hey...are you two new here at Hollywood U? I recognize that lost puppy look." We both nod. "My name's Addison. I remember the first day... I got so lost I wandered onto a movie set and ended up making out with Chris Pratt! Sophia stared at her wide eyed in wonder. "You can't be serious..." Addison laughed. "Well... Chris Pratt's stunt double. But close enough, right?" "How did you end up pulling that off?" Sophia questioned her. The girl had caught her attention the minute she said Chris Pratt. "Maybe she can tell us later, Soph," I said. I turned to Addison. "We're actually headed to the pool, would you like to come with us?" "Sure!" We headed down the hall with our new found friend. "So what are you two here for?" she asked us. "I'm here for acting, but I'm pretty sure Sophia just came for Thomas Hunt and, you know, all of the hot guys." Addison and I laughed as Sophia's face turned bright red. "Hey!" She acted offended by my joke while stifling a giggle. "I'm just kidding, she's here for acting too." "Hot guys are a plus..." Sophia giggled. Addison nodded in agreement. "I'm Selena by the way." We shook hands. "It's nice to meet both of you! I think you'll really enjoy Hollywood U, and yes, there are plenty of hot guys to choose from, Sophia." We all shared a laugh. "I'm here for fashion. Eventually, I'd like to own my own fashion line!" she told us. We walked through the lobby of the dorms to the big double doors. A group of students stood by the doors laughing loudly. "Oh, Selena, Sophia, I'd like to meet my friend Kyle. He's a director." Addison tapped on the shoulder of a tall ginger with a buzz cut and colorful tattoos going up both arms. "Kyle, these are my new friends, Selena and Sophia. They're here to study acting." Addison introduced us. Kyle smiled warmly at both of us and shook our hands. "Welcome to Hollywood U." He turned to Addison. "This is a start to a great entourage!" "We're ready to take over this town! Right, Soph?" I offered her a fist bump which she returned. Kyle looked back at us and quietly laughed. "That's a great attitude to have! Most of the A-list got their start at Hollywood U." "Yeah, my dream has been to always be recognized as a true artist and I figured that I have to get my start somewhere!" I grinned. "I'm pretty sure you'll have to work your way up to that..." Addison assured me. "But hey, even Brad Pitt started out as a giant chicken at an El Pollo Loco." "So, the point is, you have to start small, but having your dreams in sight is a good start." Kyle smiled at us. "Sophia isn't it?" She shyly nodded at our new ginger friend. "So I was wondering if you'd like to do something with me sometime. You know what, let's all head to one of the clubs tonight and get to know each other better!" Kyle motioned to the whole group while still focusing on Sophia. She just stood there searching for an answer staring at him. "I know of this amazing club called Blitz!" Addison jumped in. "It's-" A shrill laugh cut her off mid sentence as a pretty girl strolled over followed by a huge entourage. "You actually think you could get into Blitz tonight?" She snorted. "That adorbs. Totes adorbs," a blonde haired girl behind her smirked. "After your scandal, I doubt you could even get into a Starbucks, Addison!" Another girl, dark haired, said. "Ooo burnnnn!" A tall brown haired boy grinned. "I go to Starbucks all the time..." Addison shot back. I glare at the girl in the lead who turns and catches me staring her down. "What's your problem?" she sneers at me. "I have 99 problems and you aren't one. Figure it out!" I reply with a hasty comment. "I'm not going to do your logic puzzle... NERD! And a little advice, whoever you are. You're not going to get anywhere in this town with Addi and two no-names." Kyle's face turn red with anger and Sophia puts her hands on her hips as she frowns. "A real star has an entourage. Bye, losers!" She waves as she and her friends walk off. "Who was that?" I ask Addison. I clench my fists to keep myself from exploding. "That was Bianca Stone. Her dad is the head of Stone Pictures, and he spoils her by getting her whatever she wants, the best roles, designer labels, anything and everything she wants. She's just a spoiled heiress on a power trip," Addison explained to us. "Well," I smirked, "she's not going to stop us from getting into Blitz tonight. We're going to go prove that we can be just as good as them!" Kyle, Addison, Sophia, and I step out of a limo outside the busy night club Blitz. "It normally isn't this packed!" Addison remarked as we made our way to the back of the line. "I hope it doesn't take us all night to get in!" Slowly we made our way to the front of the line where we were stopped by a guard. "Hi, Diego! It's just the three of us. My name should be on the VIP list." "I'm sorry, Addison, not tonight. The cast of Fireman's Inferno is having a wrap party. Even Chris Winters showed up!" He told us. Bianca and her friends saunter over to the front of the line. "Can't get in? Oh, that's too bad." Bianca retorted sarcastically. "O.M.G. I am so totes live tweeting this!" Her blonde haired friend, who I learned goes by the name Jenni, freaked behind her. "And... #SelenaAndAddisonClubFail is totally trending!" "Now get out of our way, REAL VIPs are trying to get in!" Bianca's boyfriend Lance sneered. "Bye, Selena, have fun trying to get in!" they taunted us as the security guards let them in. A few minutes later, Addison waves over a friend wearing an expensive suit. "Ethan, thanks so much for coming to help us out!" She exclaims. "Addison, looking great as always. Don't worry, anything to help you out!" Ethan winks at us and walks over to the security guard named Diego. "Big D! There's my favorite security professional! How's the screen play?" "It's really coming along, just gotta tighten together the second act." "You finish that thing, you call me. I'm having lunch with Joss Whedon next week." "Sure thing, E. Enjoy your night." Diego unhooks the rope and allows us to pass through into the club. Ethan follows us into the club. "That's amazing that you're having lunch with Joss Whedon next week!" Sophia remarks to Ethan. Her eyes sparkling. "Well, technically it's his dog walker, but an in's an in, right Sophia, Selena?" He grins. "You know us?" I ask him, surprised. "I'm an agent so it's my job to know everyone." The dance floor is packed and everything is decorated for the Fireman's Inferno premiere. Suddenly cheers come from around a two story fireman's pole as Bianca slides down and lands in a round of applause as fire shoots up around her. "Someone should definitely show her up!" Addison shouts to us over the loud music. "I'll go," I say smirking. I give her a huge thumbs up. Climbing to the top, I look down the pole. It doesn't look too bad and besides its not me to turn away a dare. I latch onto the pole upside down and slide down as fire shoots up, surrounding the base. The crowd explodes in applause and I can see Bianca scowling at me from the VIP section. As I jump off the pole, I do a flip and land gracefully on the platform below before heading over the bar where I'm greeted by Ethan and Kyle. Kyle claps me on the shoulder. "That was awesome! You should've seen the the look on her face when," he starts laughing, "when..." He can't stop laughing. "Oh I saw it, it was a look of pure jealousy," I smirk and laugh with him. My friends head out to the dance floor as I wait in line at the bar. After a short wait, I get a seat but the bar tender ignores me no matter how hard I try to get his attention. Suddenly a handsome guy wearing a brown leather jacket squeezes in next to me and shoots me a smile. "Long wait?" He asks. "Yeah," I sigh. "Good luck trying to get the bartender over here. He hasn't even looked in my direction for the past five minutes!" He gives me a smirk and motions for the bartender to come over. "I'll take a single malt. Neat. And something for my friend here... What'll you have?" I send him a flirty smirk and reply in a deep sultry voice, "sex on the beach sounds perfectly fine to me!" I wink. "You're definitely a flirt, aren't you?" He laughs. "Maybe I'm just a fan of vodka and juice." "Eh, whatever you say," he turns back to the tender. "Same for her." "I can't believe you were able to get the bartender's attention so easily! I've been trying for the past fifteen minutes without luck." "I wish I could say it's just my charming personality, but I think he recognizes me." "Wait a minute... you're Chris Winters?!" I gawk at him. "That's me," he smiles. The bartender returns with our drinks. Chris and I tap glasses. "Cheers! Welcome to Hollywood. First day here?" he asks. "Am I that obvious?" He chuckles a bit. "The way you politely let strangers cut in front of you was a dead give away. Now you already know my name. What's yours?" "I'm Selena Quene." Chris starts to pay for our drinks, but I stop him and tell him that I'll pay instead. We have a short conversation and we swap numbers before the crowd pulls him away. As soon as he leaves the paparazzi are all over me, asking me questions about him. Camera flashes go off in every direction, blinding me. "I just met the guy! Everybody calm down!" I try to persuade them as I move towards the door. As the crowd closes in on all sides they push me into Bianca and her drink spills all over her. "My dress! You did that on purpose!" She screams in my face. "Don't be a baby and deal with it! Accidents happen!" "You're going to pay for this and I promise that you won't last a week at Hollywood U!" "SECURITY! We've got a problem over here!" Lance shouts over all of the commotion. Two burly guards grab my arms and escort me out the club. "Let me go! I didn't do anything! It was an accident..." I tried to explain the situation to them but they just weren't listening. Outside of the club Addison runs up to me. "Selena, are you okay? I saw you get kicked out." I frown. "I'm fine, all I lost was a little dignity. And one of my shoes. But I'll tell you this much... we'll be back, and next time in the VIP section!" "You're ambitious. I like that. But it's going to take more than ambition to make it in Hollywood," Ethan tells me. "Whatever it takes, I'm in. This is my dream, and no one will ruin it for me! I'm going to be a star!" I told them with determination. "Well anything good about the night other than Bianca ruining it?" Kyle wondered. He chuckled a little bit. Sophia and him had appeared behind Addison and Ethan. They must have followed them out. "I got Chris Winters's number," I smirked with glee. Addison and Sophia gawked at me for a few seconds. "Nuh uh, girl! Let me see!" Sophia said in astonishment. "How'd you manage that?" Addison asked. I showed them his contact information on my phone. "He's the one who approached me when I was at the bar," I laughed. "I've seen so many of his movies, but I didn't realize it was him!" "Oh my god, girl! You're the real winner here tonight, not Bianca!" Sophia excitedly jumped up and down. "Not everyone has Chris Winters's number!" (After meeting Lisa & being put on probation) Two days later Addison, Sophia, and I hung out around the pool area. It was a lovely Olympic meter pool, completed with several high dive boards. A stone fence surrounded the pool area so the only entrance was through the locker rooms. Sophia kept glancing at her phone with a worried look on her face, then took one long look around the pool. "Aw, Soph, I'm sure Kyle will get in touch with you. Besides if he doesn't, there are plenty more fish in the sea," I tried to explain to her. She glared at me. My friend was definitely falling for this ginger guy fast, but I could tell by looking at him that he's a flirt. "You always have guys falling for you, every which way. This guy, he's the most beautiful guy -" Suddenly she stops talking, her gaze following a shirtless Kyle as he walks around the pool straight toward us. I could tell this guy practically lives in the gym because of his perfectly sculpted abs and muscly arms and legs. I found myself gawking too as he walked straight up to Sophia. "Hey, Sophia!" he greeted her cheerfully offering her a fist bump. "Sorry I'm late, I just got your text." "It's fi - fine!" she stuttered. "Glad you could make it!" She stood up and gave him a small hug, which he returned. His gaze shifted over to me. "Selena, right?" he asked me. I found myself still gawking at his beautiful body and quickly shook myself out of it. "Um, yeah! Selena that's right!" He offered me a fist bump which I took. "Hey, Addison!" He looked over at Addison who was busy working on a new design. She sat hunched forward with a pen in her mouth, engaged in her work. "Hi, Kyle," she quickly replied. Her focus didn't shift from her design. Kyle wrapped his arm around Sophia's shoulder, turning all of his attention on her. "Do you want to swim?" he asked her. She quickly replied with a nod and a bright smile, and the two headed to the pool. "Second day here and Sophia already found a guy. Funny, she said that the guys are all over me, but here I am without a date!" I laughed and looked over at Addison who was still occupied with her work. "Yeah, it's great." "We should go flirt around, find a guy, and score a date. I came here looking for a new start, and I still haven't found one." She remained quiet for a few minutes. "I'm not really interested in anyone right now. I need to focus on my work, not boys, but whatever you want." Suddenly a shrill shriek came from across the pool as a guy with dark tanned skin and a very muscly body tickled a very skinny girl wearing a skimpy bikini in the stomach and tempted to push her in the pool. He swept up the girl on his other side and threw both into the pool at the same time. The girls laughed and started swimming towards the side of the pool, but he walked away from them. The model looking man sauntered right past us. His shadow fell over us, and Addison looked up from her work. "Well, hello, ladies," he greeted us in a flirtatious voice. I noticed he spoke with a New York accent. He propped one foot up on the edge of my chair and lowered his sunglasses. "Hello, handsome," I replied in a deep sultry voice tinted with my slight French accent. "So, you're French?" he asked me. "And Irish! My romantic side isn't the only thing that's interesting about me!" "Definitely sexy," he looked down over my body. I was wearing a red bikini. "Oh, I know," I purred. I smirked. "So what do you say, can I...buy you a drink sometime?" I stood up and cocked my head at him deep in thought. "Hmm," I said. "I'll have to think about that." I brought my face close to his. "I'll definitely have to consider that, but Addi and me have to run." "Certainly, anytime will work for me." "I'll see you around then," I answered him. Quickly I reached up and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before walking away. "Wait," he called after me. "Can I have a name?" I smiled. "Selena Quene," I called back. I grabbed a nearby pen and paper and wrote my number down on it. "Here!" I gave it to him. "Fin Harper," he told me. "The names Fin Harper. See you around." I waved my fingers at him. "Come on, Addi, let's go." Addison quickly gathered up her belongings and pushed past Fin who stood watching as we left. His two girls glared at us as we walked towards them. One crossed her hand over her chest and the other put her hands on her hips. "Bye, girls!" I mocked them laughing as we walked past them. As I left the pool I looked over my shoulder and watched them huddle together, still glaring at me. They quietly whispered back and forth. A few days later, Kyle asked Sophia out on another date so Addison and I headed out to the beach together. It was a warm day, perfect for relaxing in the sun, and also a perfect day for catching waves. I grabbed my surf board while she bathed in the sun back on dry land. I joined some of the surfers in the waves. They all seemed to be friendly, and they quickly accepted me into their social group. Talking to the surfers reminded me of my high school friends, Dane and Dax Dorian, who were twin brothers and also surfers. They had taught me how to surf, and the surf lifestyle while being my best friends and lovers. I dated Dane for awhile, but decided it was best to just stay friends. Out of the corner of my eye I could see a wave start to loom up behind me. I instinctively started paddling as the wave picked me up. It dropped me down a little as I pushed myself up into a standing position. Veering myself away from the white caps, I let the wave crash over me as I surfed towards through the tunnel. My hands brushed the warm ocean water as I surged out of the collapsing tunnel and the wave tumbled to the shore behind me. I jumped off my board so I wouldn't damage the fins and walked up onto the sand where a group of bystanders stood clapping. I raised the hand not holding the board and pointed to the cloudless sky. "Woo!" I screamed in victory. My scream of triumph became lost in the sound of the waves, but my smile shined as bright as the sun. Surfing is my life, my dream. After catching a few more waves I joined Addison on the beach. "You looked pretty good out there!" she complemented me. "Thanks, Addi." I plopped down in the sand behind her chair. "So can you tell me about this Fin Harper guy?" Addison rolled her eyes and lugged a little. "He's a model from New York City. Kind of full of himself, and has girls all over him anywhere he goes. He's kind of a big joke around Hollywood U." "I've met a lot of people like him," I told her. Right after my second year at HSS, I had been dating an actor named Jensen. He wasn't very popular before he met me, but he was a very sweet guy. Just a few days after school let out I caught him cheating on me with his fellow actor Jo. She wasn't the prettiest girl, and she was clingy and rather quite annoying. He always told me about how much he hates clinginess, but at the same time he "failed to realize" that Jo was what he described as his worst nightmare. Jensen revealed that he had been playing me the entire time, and only cared for receiving a better social status through me. Now, I've learned my lesson. I can't trust anybody, and no one, absolutely no one, comes close to me. I can't allow that pain again, even though I went though it with Dane and Dax before I was done with dating in high school. I sighed and leaned back on my elbows. If Fin was just like Jensen, I couldn't let him into my life. I could be his friend but nothing more. Part of the reason I came to Hollywood U, wasn't just because I wanted to study acting, but because I wanted a new start. There comes a time when you're sick of putting up with players and having everyone you love leave you. Now is that time, even though I became quite a player myself. I will not allow myself to make another mistake like dating Jensen was. It hurts too much in the end. I heard my phone vibrate in my bag. A message appeared on the screen, it was from, not surprisingly, Fin Harper. "Actually he just texted me." I showed Addison my phone screen displaying his text. It read, Hey, it's Fin. :) "Be careful, Sel. It's your first year at HU and I don't want you to get hurt," she warned me. "Oh, I'll be careful. And besides, I just met the guy. I should give him the chance to get to know me!" "I agree, just don't let him take advantage of you." I nodded and looked back at my phone. Over the last few days I had gotten to know him a little better. He asked me to hang out later this weekend. I said yes, why shouldn't I give this guy a chance? Hey! What's up? I replied. It was only a few seconds before I received another message from him. Good, he's a fast texter, I thought. Just chillin'. Thinking about heading to the beach. You wanna come? Actually I'm already at the beach with Addison! You can come if you, I'll send you my location. I quickly tapped the send location button. Okay, I'll leave in about five minutes! Sounds good! My phone went quiet for almost ten minutes then it buzzed. Omw! I laid my head back on my chair to let the sunlight warm up my face instead of answering his text. It felt like time passed by so quickly before he got there. I saw him wandering around looking for me, so I quickly jumped up to go greet him. "Hey!" I called out. Finally I caught his eye and he jogged up to me, smiling. "I was walking up the beach looking for ya for almost an hour!" he exclaimed in his funny New York accent. I laughed. "Am I really that hard to find?" "Well, considering that you found me, then yeah, you're hard to find." "Come with me," I laughed and motioned for him to follow. We strolled back to where Addison and I were sitting. She was still laying down on the mat with her eyes closed, soaking up the sun. "Hey, Addison," Fin greeted her. She opened her eyes for a minute, rolling them as soon as she saw Fin. "Fin," she responded bitterly. She closed her eyes again. "Uh, so do you know how to surf?" I asked him. "Surfing wasn't big with my pals back in New York, so nah." "Then how about we just go swim a little." A few hours later as the sun was setting, and everyone was leaving the beach, Fin and I tried to towel of our wet sticky feet. We both had sand covering our feet and ankles that we couldn't wash off. Addison was gathering our stuff, preparing to leave. "So I was wonderin', do you wanna take a walk with me down the beach before we head back?" Fin asked. I nodded my head in agreement. "Addi, we'll be back soon," I told her before we set off. We walked side-by-side at the waters edge, waves lapping at our feet every few seconds. Seagulls flew overhead us, screeching. "Today was fun, ya know? I'd like to hang out with ya more often," Fin broke the silence. I stared out at the sea, and thought about how I would reply to him. He was basically asking me out. "I think," I started, "I think I'd like that." His fingers intertwined with mine as we continued strolling down the beach. "I think I'd really like that," I smiled. (Next the filming of Lisa's music video.)
