Kurapika’s eyes are bright scarlet in that scene.
When he was young, in that non-Kurta vilage, in front of grown adults, people had called him a demon for those eyes, Kurapika had always been aware that outside of his clan, people were scared about his eyes turning red.
And Wobble was looking for a hug from him while his eyes were bright scarlet.
I’m going to cry if those two (three because I want Oito to be okay too) don’t come out alive I will riot.
Just a few thing, Emperor’s Time only imply the use of his Nen Chain while with scarlet eyes right?
After all, the eyes turning Red is a part of Kurapika’s body, regardless to Nen. Even if his Nen change nature when they do turn red, there’s no reason for the Emperor’s time to be activated anytime his eyes are red?
I suppose what I mean is that. When he uses his Healing chain or Judgement Chain, both chains that relies on Emperor’s Time, it’s a momentary stuff. It can take a few second each to happen.
Chain Jail works under other kind of condition, of putting his life already in the line, and it’s a Conjurer technique, so it’s not dependant en Emperor’s Time.
And... i don’t know what to think of the Divination Chain but I’m scared
The real issue comes with Steal Jail, as the chain stays activated as long as the Nen inside of it doesn’t get used, and therefore the activation can be pushed up to a while. (as for now in canon, considering the fight + arrestation + the prince meeting + the assassin + the fight against the assassin, it took at least 10 mins for all of it to happen, so 600seconds so -600 hours, so if my calculus isn’t wrong, Pika just lost 25 days of his life...)
What I mean to say is that what matters is how many times he spend using those techniques that rely on Emperor’s time, rather than for “how long during the fight he had the eyes red” right?
Still not too sure about how Kurapika can pass Oito the dolphin’s power, but as far as it goes, if he still can’t use that other’s guy power, it’s okayish I guess. I guess my only ehh about it is that it kinda lessen Chain Jail if now Kurapika can put people into Zetsu like that.
That being said, the whole ability is?? a goddamn mess??? everything about Emperor’s Time is bad. And Steal Chain takes ways too much on Emperor’s Time. As it is for now, with what he asked with Oito, he’s still putting himself ways too much in danger, and he still uses this ability for too long.
also it explains why the dolphin did warn him about using Emperor’s Time for too long.
That being said, it was to be expected for a while now. Idk I always thought Emperor’s Time was extremely draining on Kurapika considering what happened in YN, so i’m not surprised. Although now we do have textual evidence that Kurapika is basically slowly but surely finding ways to have himself die early.
And I’m getting mostly worried because so far we see the powers, but we’re still in the begining of the story and I only fear what will happen when the real trouble will start...

Other than that, I’m getting really worried about the Prince all going after Pika, that one guy coming in and all. It’s seriously going to be a mess....

I guess that’s because i’m really into this headcanon that I’m a little defensive, but like, his eyes turning red is a part of him. It doesn’’t mean Emperor’s time is activated as soon as his eyes turn red, it means that once his eyes are red he can turn on Emperor’s time.
I mean after all the red eyes are not related to Nen, it has always been a part of Kurapika, I really don’t think it’s a “if it’s red, it’s emperor’s time” thing ajkhfdfkjh.
Like, really :/ The Red eyes *are* a part of Kurapika. His eyes often turn red out of emotions. (I was re-reading a part, but in Kurapika’s past it’s also implied his eyes could turn red from good emotions and I’m feeling like we’ve been robbed).
So ye, don’t worry, his eyes reacting to emotions wouldn’t make him closer to death.
As long as he doesn’t activate Emperor’s time during those times at least.
