I couldn't help noticing that there's been a bit of confusion surrounding the word "boner" lately. So, I took the liberty of looking it up and can confirm the following:
"Boner" meaning "a person or thing who bones" originated in 1985. Whether they meant "boning" in terms of butchery or corset construction is unclear, but that is the original and official definition.
In 1910, "boner" was used to refer to a blunder or a mistake. It wasn't used to refer to erections until the 1950s, although "bone-on" was commonly used to the same effect in the 1940s.
