Chris with some Hakurei Turnips (Brassica rapa) we harvested from his father's field. We sent the seeds to him because it's our favorite - so sweet that my friends at Tobacco Road Farm in CT call it jokingly "the mango of the north". From some rough internet searches, I learned this hybrid was developed in Japan after World War II when the country was facing famine. I'd love to learn more about its history and its parent lines.
