Used by a large number of buses and trolley buses heading for Fairfield Street, Hyde Road, and Stockport Road. Trolley buses at that time were very popular as they were regarded as being more flexible than trams as they could move to the kerb when stopping and did not obstruct the traffic. Trams disappeared from Manchester streets in 1949. Manchester trolley buses were no longer used after 30th Dec 1966.
