ONE, FOUR, NINE, TEN, AND TWELVE FOR HELEN AND THIRTEEN, SIXTEEN, EIGHT AND TWENTY FOR YOU OTHER QUIZZY.
I'M SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG, I GOT DISTRACTED BY WRITING A LITTLE FIC ABOUT HELEN AND VRINA
HELEN
1. What color best represents them?
Yellow, I think. No royal colours, because she's not exactly royalty, nor does she act like it, and no cool colours, because she's very much a bright and vibrant person. Yellow holds tones of happiness to it, and also tones of nature, like bees and flowers, and sweetness, like honey. I think that fits Helen rather well, especially since yellow can also be a cautionary colour - a "I'm not angry yet but I can be" or a warning for poison. And this very much suits what her fury can be like.
4. What season reflects their personality best?
I'd say spring. She's very much a gentle and soft woman, and her delight for flowers and animals probably comes from a nurturing nature. That said, the winds in spring can be horrendous, and likewise her temper and anger can be downright disastrous if she's picked at and prodded enough. Not that it happens often, however.
9. Do they have a background story?
Helen was born as Havar, a small baby pronounced as male at birth. She grew with her mother and father far away from the Qunlands, in a little village she no longer remembers the name of. Most of her time was spent with her nanny, a kindly woman who lived only next door to them, as her mother and father were often away on merc business. It was in her nanny's household that she realised she wasn't actually Havar as her mother had named her; she much preferred the clothes of her nanny's little girls, and much preferred their games, and much preferred their toys. She decided quite young that she was not a little boy, and with the help of her nanny - who had helped her decide whether or not she simply liked girls things or if she was, in fact, a girl - she decided to become Helen.
She grew up with her nanny, as her parents came home less and less often. Eventually, they never came home at all, though she hardly misses them. She grew up with her nanny and her nanny's little girls, the only Kossith in a family of elves. She learnt her sexuality when she kissed one of the girls during a birthday party, aged young at eleven. She later qualified this when she fumbled with the same girl in her room at the age of fifteen, hands shoved hastily down skirts and rubbing tenderly as they tried to stifle their noises, her nanny humming as she did the washing downstairs.
Helen and the girl dated for a few years, right up until they turned nineteen, when word came back to Helen that her parents were dead, killed by Qunari. She may not have cared, but left to her were her parents' merc group, and the person who informed her their second in command; a lovely old woman riddled with scars and stories. She decided she'd go with them, and left the girl behind, for she was much happier staying at home.
10. Do they have any family?
Her parents, who are dead; her nanny, a brown elf named Rita, and her nanny's four daughters, Lyna, Sephie, Olian and Vrina - Vrina being the girl she dated. She also has the old woman as her adopted mother in the merc group, known simply as Quil, for reasons she's never been able to figure out.
12. What’s the Inquisitor’s favorite food?
Helen adores baked bread. It sounds rather simple, but Rita was a baker, and every morning Helen would help her bake the bread, would watch it rise and turn golden brown, and would delight in the way it melted on her tongue with each bite. It holds many fond memories of mornings with her nanny, though she swears that no matter who makes it, nobody can bake bread as well as Rita can.
HYDRIAN
8. What scent would they be associated with, if any?
Most likely woody scents, like pine or oak. He's Dalish, after all, and thus spends enough time in the forests that he's likely picked up much of its scents. With that, however, I think would be a musk of some sort, because Hydrian is a pampered asshole, and I don't doubt he probably bathes in perfumed water each morning.
13. Can they cook?
Somewhat. He can cook things that have been hunted, and he can easily cook stews, but big, grand meals and baked things? He's much more likely to set the kitchen on fire.
16. Are they neat or unorganized?
Hydrian is a bit of both. His person is meticulously neat; his hair is always done a certain way, his clothes are always pressed, and his makeup is always done well before anyone else has woken up. His work space is also incredibly neat, everything colour coded or alphabetized, all put away in its place. His pack, however, is just tossed together, and at least half of his bedroom is always in a mess, because he doesn't like keeping up appearances in his private rooms; he's as inherently lazy as he is vain, thus his private areas within the Keep aren't as meticulously kept as others.
20. If they met, how would your Inquisitor get along with your Warden? Your Hawke?
Kaarin would be alright with him, I think. He doesn't exactly push being Dalish onto other elves despite being proudly Dalish himself, so she wouldn't have a problem with him on that. His vanity might get on her nerves a bit, but she's quite a practical person. Tips on what to do with her hair, however, might get him in her favour, and the proof that he does care deeply about his friends - he just needs to keep up the appearance of being aloof - would make her get on well with him in seconds.
Darren... Would hate him. He's too vain. Too flouncy. He focuses too much on the things that don't matter and not on the things that do. He's too aloof, too uncaring about the people around him, and it infuriates Darren, who is practical to a T and will sacrifice anything for the continued happiness of his family. He doesn't even hide behind his vanity for a reason, like Andrew does - he just is vain, and he keeps up the appearance of not caring for reasons Darren can't fathom. They'd do business and then Darren would be off like a bullet.
