Lol I never had an english name bc my parents are really serious about this kind of thing, I’m trying to figure one out for university weh
aaa my relatives usually choose a name that is slightly similar to their chinese name?? (my name is karen but my chinese name is gaaling because according 2 my mom it “kinda sounds like karen, right) or ones that have similar meanings in chinese to their english form.

I suffer bc I don’t actually have an english name and jfc it sounds so bad anglicized but it also sounds so weird if you’re talking in english and then you say it the chinese way idk
i wish i was given a chinese name at birth haha...mine was given very quickly when i was like 10 on the way to china...in an airport going thru customs because the forms required a chinese name... i understand tho TT__TT talking in american english and then pausing to change ur pronunciation and tone of voice...

!!! we have the same jia! but my name is 嘉敏 jiamin and I have no idea how to pronounce it in english
ヾ(´▽`;)ゝ i think the only way to pronounce it is the chinese way unless u want the weird anglicized version of it haha..its difficult to tell others how the pronunciation is because the tone marks screw ppl up and they might just thinking like “ji-ya-min.” i dont get called jialing a lot though other than by the chinese school teacher i volunteer for and my relatives very rarely.
HELLO I WAS WONDERING HOW YOUR NAME IS WRITTEN IN CHINESE BC I AM ALSO JIA !
I HAVE...COMPETITION...
but ya hi!!!!! my name is spelled out 嘉玲 jialing (pinyin) gaaling (jyutping) but i just stick w/ the first character bc it’s a nice simple three letters...what about! you!
