Hi my Leila Land lovelies, it’s amazing to see you, welcome back!
In today’s post I wanted to share the gorgeous things from my December Hyggebox. I feel such an affinity with the Hygge way of self care and energy replenishment throughout the dark winter months and just knew that the December Hyggebox would be perfect for this. Having waited a whole year, I can tell you I was not disappointed!
The theme for this box is all about putting less pressure on ourselves in the form of resolutions & goals and instead, taking more time to reflect on our achievements & improvements over the past year. I really love this as I’m a firm believer in being driven by positivity rather than comparison & negativity. In looking back over our year, we can identify what we have enjoyed or excelled at and resolve to do more of the same. We can identify where we feel we need more improvement and resolve to make those improvements. We can also decide what we absolutely do not want to take forward into the new year with us and resolve to leave those particular things in the past. These are all amazing, positive and positive actions but to make them permanent changes in our lives (and why wouldn’t we?) then they are going to take some thinking about and organising; something which can’t be done if we’re being swept along in the feelings that we have to be the first in line at the gym and 3 stone down or have a clean, tidy, organised & perfectly decorated house all by tea time on New Year’s Day. This box is all about taking that pressure off and I bet you will be surprised at how clear your mind becomes once you do …
The first item out of the box was this brilliant card with the quote “Perfectionism is just fear in a mink coat and fur boots” which I just LOVE! It basically says that in striving for ‘perfection’, we are really being afraid of imperfection. When we manage to raise our heads above the cycle of perceived perfection, we realise that there is no such thing!
The next item out of the box is the Cherizena smooth vanilla coffee. As I said in my unboxing video I am not a coffee drinker at all but I do live for the scent of fresh coffee. This particular coffee smells amazing and was the first thing to hit my senses when I unwrapped the box. My Mammy loves coffee so this will be winging its way to her.
Meet Casper, everybody! I love a product with a story or a mascot and this one is no exception. This is the Patchouli & Lime soap handmade with shea butter & goat’s milk from Laughing Bird . I have a dairy intolerant and one of my earliest memories is of driving up to a local farm with my parents to buy bags of goat’s milk for me in the early 80s. It wasn’t my favourite thing in the world but I definitely appreciated that extra effort from them to help me feel better. This soap is another item which smells divine and is currently permeating our wet room with its refreshing scent.
I think my face says it all! This Little Book of Inspiration from Lucy Lane is one of my favourite items in the December box. What an amazing thing to carry with you in your bag to pull out and get your very own dose of inspiration on tap whenever necessary! Check out my unboxing video for a couple of inspirational quotes from this book.
Oh. My. Beeswax. We can’t have a Hyggebox without a scented candle and this particular one from BeeFayre not only satisfies my constant need for a great pun but also my obsession & passion for great scented candles. I’m like a well scented Miss Haversham! The packaging is gorgeous, the candle pot is gorgeous, the scent is gorgeous … you get my drift. This particular candle is honey lily scented which is just as scrummy as it sounds and the pot featuring some stunning bee designs can be used again as a tea light holder once this candle is finished! BeeFayre also donates 3% of their profits to bee conservation which is fantastic!
Again with the amazing packaging and origins story!! This milk chocolate bar from Ocean Creed is so yummy and smooth, Paul & I really enjoyed it with a movie this weekend. I love that each shipment of cocoa is sent by three man sailboat and that all of the other ingredients are locally produced, from grass fed cows, organic, fairtrade and non GMO too.
Biscotti is a firm (see what I did there?) favourite with Paul and this cantuccini one from Pan Ducale disappeared in record time! I love that it’s twice the standard size too, meaning you get twice the time to sit and enjoy with your favourite hot drink.
What an amazing box of goodies yet again from Gabby & Sally at Hyggebox. Thank you so much, ladies, for the time and effort that is poured into each box and its theme. Big, squishy, hoogly hugs from me to you.
And thank you, my Leila Land lovely, for taking the time to read this blog post. Do make sure that you are subscribed and definitely go and check out my YouTube channel for more from me.
