"If anyone had seen that --"

”seen what?” —- seen her risking her own hide to rescue a child of time? oh, what would the masses think? —– what would hylia, the goddess herself, think? midna doesn’t know, nor can she find it in herself to even care. though, it doesn’t stop the dusk monarch’s sharp quip. doesn’t exactly cull the ire that’s quick to rise in her small frame.
he’s still in the thrall of her clutch. held aloft by nothing more than a spec of good-will and a touch of magic. a scoff wrings itself from betwixt her lips, her vice lessening. leaving him to tumble back into the soft and damp embrace of hyrule’s tall grass.
“poor thing, that abyss must have gotten to you.” sarcasm always sat well ‘pon her shoulders. suited her well in times that desperately tried at the hem of her patience. midna sighs with a roll of her eyes before kicking up and away from him in favor of reclining against the decaying light of day. —- how appropriate, she thinks. to pull this child from the depths of the dark well and deposit him in the gentle wake of twilight’s touch.
there are no thanks to be had from him. not that she expected there to be in the first place. not when she’s almost positive he still thinks her to be one of ganon’s mindless foot soldiers. still, it doesn’t keep her from disinterestedly looming closer to the kid with an ugly, irritated glower. a farce in turn. —– so that she could ascertain that his injuries had indeed been superficial without her intentions being questioned.
“perhaps the next time you decide to venture down there, you’ll bring something more than a half bottle of red chuu. hmm?”
