“this is it,” guanghong says, arms awkwardly stretched out to each side with bright yellow arm floats wrapped around his upper arms. “this is the stupidest i’ve ever looked.”

not knowing how to swim meant that guanghong always brought with him a pool float the few times he actually went to the beach. they were neat, came in all sorts of cute designs, and didn’t look stupid. arm floats, on the other hand, looked ridiculous, and made guanghong look even younger than he was-- as if his babyface didn’t do that enough already.

at least they were on a beach in fukuoka, far away from anyone he knew. they had come here to relax and have fun, but guanghong had also asked minami to teach him how to swim. he had known he would have to use some kind of floating device. he just hadn’t been prepared for how... stupid he would look (it probably didn’t help that he was pouting like a little child too).

Yuri hummed quietly in reply to the boy’s question, almost as if it was perfectly normal that someone you’d asked out and kind of were dating wouldn’t tell you they were in your home country at all. 

His face reflected utter boredom, but inside his chest was alight. He’d missed this, he noticed. He had missed this boy more than he would have liked to tell. He really should have called earlier or something, let him know he would be in Japan, not just face him when there was a competition in their midst. 

However, it wasn’t Yuri competing, he was only tagging along with Viktor and Yuuri, and he knew Minami would be there too... so it had seemed like he had no real rush to do much, since he could wait until the meeting was inevitable. Like at a snowstorm that delayed the only flight from Narita to the competition. 

“So, are you gonna beat our fucking ice king this time, Minami?”

Um... bit of a strange question, but i'd prefer to ask you than just go ahead and do it cause that's rude, you draw a lot of Minami art and... well... it's not very common for that to happen, is there any chance you'd allow me to use some of it for RP icons? I'd credit you on my blog and everything!

When you say RP icons, do you mean regular icons, or art used in RP posts?

word of warning from the wise, Huion graphics tablets DON'T ALWAYS WORK, i tried THREE separate Huion models and not /ONE/ of them had workable pen pressure on EITHER of my two laptops so it's not just a laptop issue, not even a little bit of pen pressure. Cutting corners to cut costs is the best way to waste your money, Wacom is expensive cause they actually work no matter how buggy they may be sometimes, Huion are shit.

yikes, thanks for the insider note on this 😧 i’ve always just stuck with wacom, so i had no idea

☆ ┇     despite having been with minami for years now, guanghong still wasn’t used to being involved in royal matters. well, technically he wasn’t involved, just stuck on the sidelines, watching helplessly as minami had to make important, life-changing decisions on his own. though minami may not have been raised to become the ruler of the kingdom, he still tried his best, always keeping the people’s best interests in mind, and guanghong never had anything negative to say about his decisions. 

however this time... this time, guanghong really wanted to momentarily ignore what minami was saying, just so he could give this idiotic council member a piece of his mind. how dare he push minami to find a queen, especially when everyone knows he and guanghong are together? how dare he accuse minami of not caring for the kingdom? rage boils within guanghong, an emotion he rarely feels this strongly, and had minami not been there to stop guanghong, he’s not sure what would have happened to the man, what kind of injuries he would have gotten. he likes to think he’s in good control of his emotions, never drawing his blade unless necessary-- but god how he wanted to shut that man up. 

it’s only minami’s soft voice and solid grip that makes guanghong tear his gaze from the man, instead looking at minami, face still scrunched up in anger. “fine,” he relents, expression only softening as his eyes meet minami’s. minami shouldn’t have to deal with any more problems guanghong might cause, guanghong knows the entire situation is already more than enough to process. so guanghong takes a deep breath and lets his hand fall back to his side again, though it remains in a tight fist as he tries to keep himself from yelling at any of the stupid council members.

he doesn’t say anything else, not to minami or the council, not trusting himself to remain calm if he opened his mouth again. he simply keeps his head up and teeth gritted as he leaves the room, heading towards their shared bedroom. hopefully he’ll have managed to calm down by the time minami returns, though guanghong has a feeling this rage won’t disappear just yet. maybe he can just... lie face-down on the bed and scream into a pillow.
