Hyper dark - Sleigh bells
Uh oh! Sleigh bells returns with a smart Simple Cymbal Solution! Wait, she didn’t say that? Assemble a symbol? They missed an opportunity for wordplay! I’m just gonna pretend she said it.
Hyper Dark by Sleigh Bells
Dark Days
In the run up to their as yet unannounced new album Brooklyn hardcore, electronica, trap, electro (?!?!) duo Sleigh Bells have been teasing tracks. Last month the bombastic ‘Rule Number One’ and now the decidedly more subtle ‘Hyper Dub’
Hung on the back of a filtered guitar riff before dropping into a 808 trap inspired chorus ‘Hyper Dub’, is a great example of Sleigh Bells ability to switch between influences rather than clumsily try to stack them all on top of each other. Also in contrast to ‘Rule Number One’, which explodes out of the speakers, ‘Hyper Dark’ displays a surprising amount of restraint for the duo, one of which used to be in one of the heaviest hardcore bands around many years ago.
The album, which will be Sleigh Bells fourth should be an eclectic mix, and certainly one to look forward to. ‘Hyper Dark’ is in my new music playlist now

Sleigh Bells share a new single, 'Hyper Dark,' and announce a fall tour
“Hyper Dark” buries scuzzy guitars beneath a twinkling, crystalline hook.
