Godziban Article in Hyper Hobby Vol. 15 (2020)
Cover of Vol. 15 of Hyper Hobby (actually #221, they redid the numbering after relaunch in 2014). This is its final issue.
Hyper Hobby magazine, which has provided information on various tokusatsu, hero genre works, toys, and other related goods, has announced it will cease publicat
BREAKING: Hyper Hobby Magazine is shutting down for good after over 20 years of publication. Its April 1st issue will be its last.
The chief editor hasn’t stated why the publication is ending, just issuing an apology and thanks to loyal readers for sticking with them for over 2 decades.
Hyper Hobby has struggled in the past, like in 2014 when it suspended publishing due to low sales as Japanese publication media shifted to a digital world, but it was revived and held on until now.
Hyper Hobby originally was a stand alone separate issue of the TV Land magazine from 1994 and eventually spun off into its own publication soon after.
Because of its ceasing of publication, the volumes of this magazine are sure to become collector’s items for diehard tokusatsu fans.
Not my scans, but this is a cool spread.
The cover for the next issue of Hyper Hobby features Kamen Rider Zi-O, Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger vs. Keisatsu Sentai Patoranger and Ultraman R/B!
The Allspark has received Volume 5 of Hyper Hobby’s Hyper Mook Presents Character Land (that was a mouthful) and scanned the Transformers related scans for your viewing pleasure. The main draw to this issue is 2 full pages dedicated to MP-31 Masterpiece Beast Wars Convoy (or Optimus Primal to most of the world). The issue shows off the figures many features (including his weapons and interchangeable faces), his scale to Generations Rattrap and Rhinox, and much more! Also covered in this issue is the recently announced Kabaya Combiner consisting of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Starscream, as well as upcoming Adventure, Masterpiece, and Legends releases.
