What have been your hyperfixactions?
Three fandoms: The Hobbit/LOTR, Transformers, and (currently) Jacksepticeye/Markiplier!
I got really deep into them, learned all of the lore and pumped out as much fanart and as many stories as I had the inspiration for. I latched onto specific characters, cosplayed them, came up with a thousand headcanons, thought about them every day. People got me themed Christmas gifts because of them <3 And then I latched onto something else and started the process all over again.
It’s weird, though…I’ve been thinking about it lately and each of my previous hyperfixations lasted exactly three years, then I drifted away from them. People still in those fandoms missed me, they still miss me, but I don’t find the draw anymore. I mean, I still like those fandoms, I always will, but I’m not DEEP in them like I was. They stay on the back burner and simmer quietly away.
I’m about a year and a half into my JSE/MP fixation, which by my “standard operating procedure” means a year and a half left for me here. I’m kinda scared about what’s going to happen at the three-year mark. I’m wondering if it’ll be different, if I’ll still be going strong, or if I’ll float away again. Maybe it’ll be different because the JSE/MP fandoms are still going strong, it’s centered around people, and there’s Ego content that hasn’t reached its end. But I don’t know.
