Today I had the pleasure of meeting with London designer Anna Foster for a conversation on sustainability & fashion. Our planet is bleeding and as consumers we are all responsible to make a change and rethink. Working within the world of fashion I do my best to emphasise the gains from investing in classic quality garments that are made to last a lifetime. But how can we do better? Anna is behind the denim brand, @elvdenim and has since the start been creating garments out of waste materials in her Dalston based workshop. Together with 5 other fashion designers, (@richardquinn, @publicschoolnyc, @pushbitton_official, @rosie_assoulin and @alighieri_jewllery) she joined the Re:Style concept by @hyundai.lifestyle to create a contemporary capsule collection of clothes made from recycled car parts such as old or left over leather interior, airbags and glass. On a visit to Selfridges to browse the collection Anna introduced me to the fascinating methods and creative thinking behind her jumpsuit that I am here wearing. For this garment she used recycled jeans and leather from old car seats to create the leather patches.
