the storm above her eclipses the home in a fitting,  ominous haze.   there was no telling how long she’d been walking,  why it is she’d decided to show up now, why she hadn’t called,  driven,  told him she was coming home.   what a rotten heart she must own,  believing she deserved for that door to open for her,  for the man within it’s ribs to feel any flicker of warmth for her yet.   she hesitates before the entry,  sky leaving miniature droplets upon her features,  catching in her lashes,  traveling her nose.   cherry tresses dampen to a deep,  blood-lit rose,  tongue running ‘cross lips to catch their stumbling along plush beds.  

a vicious tremor takes to her spine  &  she’s lifting small fist to wrap at deep mahogany.   immediately she regrets the announcement,  what was she going to say?   what could she possibly say to make him understand?   to make him forgive her?   did he even want her anymore?
