Marcus switches on in the middle of the night and, before his recent memories load correctly, he's disoriented and calls out for his dad. Will, being woken up and hearing someone yell "dad", acts on instinct and goes to him, realizing once he's there that Marcus probably didn't mean him. He gets about a sentence into telling him this before Marcus realizes where he is and hugs Will around the middle, even if that's not the dad he was hoping would come back to him, bc Will was quickly becoming a dad to him as well
Frankie and Marcus interacting is so funny to me. Frankie doesn't use contractions and calls everyone by their first and last name (by choice) and acts always a little off. like if you were to guess who at that school was an android, you'd guess it was her. then Marcus acts like a normal teenager, so it just seems like Frankie has another completely human sibling. Frankie obviously knows Marcus is an android and treats him accordingly and Marcus has to constantly remind Frankie that he's been to high school before, and that he's experienced the real world before, and that he used to have a dad before he started living with the Gaineses. He acts more like Andrew does, actually.
oughgh this au is causing me pain. will gaines (frankie and jenny's dad) is the more empathetic one between himself and sig, and he's (as he so would) handling marcus learning to accept will as an adoptive parent after losing his first dad (bc not really a biological father and creator isnt something they can say in public, and it also sounds impersonal) and he's handling it SO WELL. will gaines my beloved fr...

Two chapters so far!
I know I said we were going to ignore the lab rats timeline implications of the i am...marcus au, but I realized that without marcus, most of the vanishing wouldn't be successful, so the old team is still together (? maybe about the vanishing implications)...so what if in this au after andrew and simone are taken by WARPA, ABC+Leo are sent in to dismantle WARPA, and just as they're rescuing andrew and simone, andrew asks if he and simone are the only androids in the facility. chase says yes, to andrew's relief, but just as they're leaving the building, they run into frankie, dayton, cole, and marcus dressed as agents trying to sneak into the building. that's how the rats find out marcus is "alive", and the others have to convince them that he's not evil anymore
