ddudes my 11 yr old bro jsut. he just. told me one of his otgw theories???????????? holy shit

okay so basically he says that the unknown probably has more than one guardian- probably two. "life" and "death", right, cuz it's kinda like purgatory so the two sides are in balance with their power because its an in-between place. he says that they are trees. the "life" guardian is good and honest and is represented by the cloud queen in gregs dream (but that's not her real form she's really a tree that can communicate through dreams). her spirit is in the tree and she is immobile. the "death" tree has figured out a way to take his spirit out of the tree so he can roam around the forest as a physical being but he needs a mobile place for his spirit to reside.

so what does he do? he forges a lantern and places his soul inside, and tricks various occupants of the unknown who are too far into the forest to ever return to carry and light it for him. once the woodsman blows the lantern out the spirit returns to the tree where the beast's spirit was originally held. my bro described the tree as "old, shaking, and completely black, and the wind whistles through it and it sounds almost like a song. it's like the north wind in greg's dream." 

he also thinks that adelaide and auntie whispers are beings created for and by the unknown to help it's guardians. adelaide works for the beast and auntie whispers works for the life guardian. auntie whispers helps the life guardian by helping restoring souls who have been corrupted by wickedness and hopelessness like lorna was. adelaide helps the beast by taking people who have a purpose and drive and hope and corrupts them with mindlessness and helplessness.

also he thinks kitty/mr president/jason funderberker is blessed by the life tree to protect the boys from the beast- who never touches the boys as long as the frog is there and active fyi. greg leaves w/ the beast of his own free will so the blessing doesnt apply. wirt doesnt have the frog when he falls in the frozen lake but he does take it with him from the bluebird tree and he doesnt get hurt after that. plus the frog can talk? and stand on it's hind legs. its a mad weird frog yo.

SO My mom and her boyfriend thought the heater was broken and i was like "guys lmao just wait a few minutes??? like be patient or w/e" and so her boyfriend goes to check the heater and then we hear a bang. so mY MOM CHECKS THE FRONT DOOR, THINKING HE LOCKED HIMSELF OUT (??????/ MOTHER, THE HEATER IS THE GARAGE) AND HE DIDN'T SO?? SHE SENDS ME TO GO LOOK IN THE GARAGE TO SEE IF HE'S THERE AND OF COURSE HE'S THERE.

SO THEN MY MOM COMES OUT AND THEN GUESS WHAT

SHE CLOSES THE FUCKING DOOR WHICH IS TYPICALLY LOCKED FROM THE OUTSIDE

AND WE LEFT ALL THE KEYS TO GET BACK INTO THE HOUSE IN THE HOUSE

WE HECKED UP SO BADLY AND I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD. I CANNOT BELIEVE WE LOCKED OURSELVES IN THE COLD, CROWDED GARAGE. LIKE JESUS THERE ARE ENOUGH CARS AND BENCHES/SHELVES AROUND. WE DON'T NEED MORE THINGS IN THERE

we got back in the house tho. it's cool. the neighbors (thankfully) had a spare key so it's cool.
