there’s a guy in my senior literature thesis seminar who’s trying to do a hybrid creative writing and literary studies thesis on how books should only be for escapism bc deeper meanings are boring, naturally using the high fantasy novel he’s been working on since high school, and i literally lose my entire mind every time he speaks in class (which is, of course, constantly, and not despite but seemingly BECAUSE he’s never had a single interesting or intelligent to say). anyway he just posted a rough draft of his proposal and it’s the most insane thing i’ve ever read. good thing he’s the first person to ever have the courage to suggest that books should be good!
