krinkles says a lot of the time jeb picked sheriff as a figurehead because he was nice, and like. thats funny and it make sense but i keep...thinking about that implication. why would jeb purposefully pick someone just to be charismatic? why would he pick someone who didn't know the inside in?
its because he needed someone who was an outsider. i think jeb knew sheriff enough to know that he was not a natural leader. he WANTED that. i think sheriff was perfect because sheriff didn't understand the ropes and he was very, very blindly trusting of jeb. even when you see the dialouge on them first meeting. sheriff is confused but not confused enough. he has a sense of trust in jeb i think at this point a lot of the cast did not. i think jeb picked sheriff because he knew he would go along with him, unquestioned, believing the fairytale hero story he was going to construct. anyone else couldn't of been him, because anyone else would've said something and spoke up. but sheriff doesn't know what hes talking about, why would he say anything? he trusts jeb. he thought he was leasing him the right direction.
jeb didn't need someone to be a strongheaded figure, jeb needed someone nice enough to believe his only goal was to save nexus
