I think the only ending that will inflict the most pain (at least on me) is for the very end of TADC to be "Oh hey yk these people? All NPCs, none of them are real or human and they never have existed, all their memories and pains and emotions are all fake and they will never leave the circus because they are blank husks. Enjoy your evening! *Cue cheery music*" It's because of this reason that I theorize that none of it's real and they're all NPCs.
