#i keep thinking:#what if i just kept teaching?#what if once i have a job#i just put up a flyer and reserved a room at the public library once a week#and offered a version of the same college courses i've been teaching#but for free?#and maybe instead of semesters i just did like#six weeks#eight weeks#and it could be in part#an experiment in collaborative learning#where maybe i set a general topic and a suggested list of texts but we spent time talking through what we wanted to learn/read#and we could create guidelines for our 'course' where we thought about what our goals were as individuals and as a community#meeting at the library would mean that we could check out laptops if we needed them#and maybe we could figure out how to order or reserve books so that people didn't have to buy course materials#i feel like a lot of the writing assignments and projects that i use now#would lend themselves well to a non-academic setting? because they are very#exploratory and open-ended and geared towards self-exploration#and i think that a lot of the in-class activities that i am using now could be very effective in a small course setting like#minimizing 'homework' apart from reading - and doing a lot of the work of understanding/breaking down texts in class#idk and it would be cool to think about like.. bringing in friends who are still in austin who are interested in feminist/wgs type pedagogy#to do different little modules within the course or something or even like co-teaching in a way that would#help distribute responsibility for giving feedback/planning together so that it would feel more manageable to be working + doing this#i just keep thinking like it would be amazing to keep teaching queer + women's studies#and i think that i would also enjoy teaching fan studies type stuff or teaching critical frameworks for understanding fan studies#bc it seems like there is such a genuine hunger for that among many of my students and yet so few classes at our university#anyway#passion projects#i think i might just do it?
